The driver of the recent hit-and-run incident in Mandai Road, towards Yishun Avenue, has been identified as a Republic of Singapore Navy serviceman. The Ministry of Defence confirmed this last night, and the 38-year old serviceman has since been suspended from duty, reported The Straits Times.
The hit-and-run driver, who is currently aiding the police with investigations, also visited the victim - Madam Rosna Rauaee - at Khoo Teck Puat Hospital where she is admitted for spinal injuries and a blood clot in her brain.
Madam Rosna was out riding at the common cycling route with a group of friends when she was hit by a black Honda Accord on Tuesday evening. The driver did not stop to render assistance even when a 24-year old eye witness gave chase to confront the driver.
Police have classified the accident as a hit-and-run case, and investigations are ongoing.
