Forget about the boring X-Type and XJ saloons. Auto Express has published a rendered speculation on Jaguar's next big sports car, rumoured to be the XJ220's replacement.

Taking into account that the British manufacturer have recently come up with cars like the new XK and the drool-worthy XFR, there is a good chance that the car you see in the picture will become a reality.

According to Auto Express' sources, the car will be based on an all-new aluminium chassis and is aimed straight at rivalling the highly successful Audi R8. Its engine will likely be a tuned version of the current fastest Jaguar - the 503 bhp XFR.

Having as little negative impact on the environment is also at the top of the list, apparently. So, of course, to improve fuel efficiency by lightening the car, expect lots of carbon fibre and aluminium parts. Oh, and the rumours say it will be able to run on a "biofuel-blended petrol".

Meanwhile, Jaguar, who have recently finished getting the XFR to hit more than 360 km/h (on the Bonneville Salt Flats), is still denying that such a car exists.

    Sure.
