  • Lamborghini going green?

Pressure for manufacturers to reduce their vehicle's emissions and up fuel economy has got Lamborghini saying they're looking to develop hybrid engines and to channel money into researching biofuels.

In a recent press release, Lamborghini said that in a bid to reduce the company's contribution to the world's environmental woes, they are in the process of installing 17,000 square metres of solar panels to the roof of its manufacturing facility. With the panels installed, they are expected to produce 1582mwh of electricity per year-enough to supply an average household for over a century.

But more noteworthy, is the fact that a section of the same release reads that the raging bull is looking at reducing the emissions from their cars and the way they are constructed. Some of the methods the guys at Sant Agata are looking at are direct injection technology, stop/start systems, biofuels and hybrid technology.

All those words suddenly remind you of what Lamborghini's President, Stephan Winkelmann mentioned at the Estoque's launch? "™a particularly economical, but nevertheless dynamic, variation would be a V8 with a hybrid module or an extremely high-performance TDI."

So who says the only green on a Lambo comes in Verda Ithaca™
