Lamborghini has revealed a new Urus Performante, which aims to raise the bar on Super SUV sportiness and performance with a design that reflects the car's abilities on street, track and loose surfaces.
The car has already set a new record in the production SUV category on the Pikes Peak International Hill Climb Road, crossing the finish line at 4,302m in a timing of just 10 minutes and 32 seconds. This beats the previous record set in 2018 of 10 minutes and 49 seconds.
The Urus Performante possesses bold looks from every angle. The car has a pure, sharper, more prominent bonnet and bumper design as compared to the standard Urus. These design cues help to emphasise the Urus Performante's more extreme edge.
The car also has deep cuts in the hood lines down to the new front bumper, with the bonnet including air outlet being forged from lightweight carbon fibre in body colour. Partially visible carbon fibre is also available as an option.
New steel springs help to lower the Performante's chassis by 20mm, with a wheel track that is broader by 16mm. Wider carbon fibre wheel arches embrace new optional 23-inch or forged 22-inch lightweight wheels with titanium bolts and specially developed Pirellis.
Lamborghini has given the Urus Performante a more aggresive stance by lowering its chassis by 20mm coupled with wider wheel arches Having the word Performante in its name means that the Urus Performante harnesses more power than the standard Urus. Power is increased by 16bhp to a total output of 648bhp and 850Nm of torque. The car has also gone through a dieting programme, shaving off 47kg of weight helping it in its zero to 100km/h time of just 3.3 seconds.
Aiding the transformation from Urus to Urus Performante is also the use of semi-slick tyres in the form of Pirelli P Zero Trofeo Rs.
This marks the first time that a Pirelli semi-slick tyre has been developed to meet the characteristics of an SUV. This has resulted in a tyre with increased versatility and higher performance under different road conditions.
Drivers can expect more fun behind the steering wheel with the recalibrated chassis enhancements providing greater driver engagement Lamborghini claims that the Urus Performante will also provide a more connected driving experience. The car has gone through recalibration of the front-wheel steering, enhancing connection with the road with precise inputs and direct feedback. Rear-wheel steering now has faster intervention, increasing turn in agility which is complemented by torque vectoring.
Urus drivers who plan to take their SUV off road will be excited to learn that Lamborghini has introduced a new 'Rally' drive mode.
The new mode is adapt to dirt tracks, making the Urus Peformante a more tail-happy car to drive. This is due to the anti-roll and damping systems optimised for steel springs on rough and more extreme surfaces.
