LTA to close Circle Line loop with three new stations
27 Mar 2025|502 views
LTA has announced that, in the first half of 2026, it will close the loop of the Circle Line (CCL) with three new stations: Keppel, Cantonment, and Prince Edward Road. This will allow passengers to consider alternative routes to bypass busy interchanges.
LTA will also be adding 23 new trains to the CCL when the loop closes, increasing the fleet from 64 to 87 trains and improving train frequencies during peak periods, including along busier stretches that typically see higher passenger volumes.
From 2030, the Cross Island Line will help to increase capacity of travel between the north-east and the west, creating new options for commuters travelling between the North-East Line, North-South Line, and East-West Line.
