MINI has unveiled the Cooper Oxford Edition, a special edition that pays tribute to Oxford, the spiritual home of the brand and the birthplace of both the original mini and today's BMW-era MINI. The launch marks 25 years since the first modern MINI rolled off the production line at Plant Oxford in 2001, continuing a manufacturing legacy that dates back to the original MINI's debut in 1959.
Available on the MINI Cooper 3-Door, the Oxford Edition centres on a Union Jack-inspired design theme. The standout feature is a white contrast roof featuring a contemporary interpretation of the British flag, while a red and white stripe runs the length of the car to tie the exterior design together.
Buyers can choose from Chili Red, Indigo Sunset Blue or Blazing Blue exterior finishes, paired with white mirror caps. The package is completed by 18-inch Slide Spoke two-tone wheels featuring edition-specific wheel hub and valve cap details.
Inside, the British theme continues with a textured Union Jack motif on the lower steering wheel spoke. Unique floor mats feature a circular Union Jack graphic on the driver's side and a chequered flag design on the passenger side, the latter serving as a nod to MINI's motorsport heritage. Special door sill trims further distinguish the model from the standard Cooper.
MINI says the Oxford Edition is available in both Cooper C and Cooper S guises, with the changes centred primarily on design and heritage-inspired touches. The Oxford Edition joins a growing list of heritage-inspired MINI special editions, following models such as the MINI 60 Years Edition, MINI Seven Edition and MINI Paul Smith Edition.
Alongside the car, MINI has also introduced a matching Oxford Capsule lifestyle collection comprising items such as a traveller bag, apparel, stickers and an umbrella, all drawing inspiration from the special edition's design themes.
