The First will come with the same 1.4 litre engine as found in the One, but detuned to produce 75bhp. A six-speed manual gearbox comes as standard, and 0-100km/h passes in a leisurely 13.2 seconds.

Despite the power deficit, MINI's renowned handling brilliance isn't lost, as the First retains the trademark sophisticated chassis of all MINIs, with the multi-link rear axle and independent front and rear suspension systems and Dynamic Stability Control adding to the driving enjoyment.

The First will also be packed with technological advances meant to maximise efficiency. Features such as Auto Start-Stop, Brake Energy Regeneration, Variable Valve Technology and Shift Point Display are all included in the standard package, contributing to the low running cost of owning a basic version of the MINI First.
