MINI has announced sweeping changes across its range for 2010, with new engines and models added

The biggest change is the addition of a new 1.6-litre engine that replaces the existing 1.4-litre unit, and will be fitted to the MINI First and One models. On the entry-level MINI First, the new 1.6-litre unit produces 75bhp and 140Nm, giving it a top speed of 175km/h and a 0-100km/h acceleration time of 13.2 seconds.

For the MINI One, the engine is tuned to produce 98bhp and 153Nm of torque. This enables the One to accelerate from 0-100km/h in 10.5 seconds, and reach a top speed of 186km/h. The same engine is also fitted to the MINI One Clubman and Convertible models.

For the MINI Cooper meanwhile, power has been increased to 122bhp and 160Nm, enabling it to go from 0-100km/h in 9.1 seconds, and reach a top speed of 204km/h. The MINI Cooper S’ 1.6-litre twin-scroll turbocharged engine has also been tweaked, with power output now standing at 184bhp and 240Nm. 0-100km/h comes up in 7 seconds for the Cooper S, while top speed stands at 228km/h.

Other changes to the MINI range for 2010 include a new Clubman Graphite Special Edition model that features the same Dark Silver paintwork and special equipment of the hatch, as well as three new Rainbow paint options for all models. The MINI One Convertible is also a new addition to the range for 2010.
