  • Mitsubishi Outlander undergoes an Evolution

    28 Sep 2009

Mitsubishi has given its Outlander off-roader a facelift, with the Australian market the first to get the new model

The biggest styling change to the Outlander is the new Lancer Evolution-like front grille, which gives the off-roader an aggressive look. Accompanying the new grille design are reshaped front bumpers and headlamps, side mirrors, fenders and bonnet. A new rear bumper and side sills complete the new look.

Other new features for the 2010 Mitsubishi Outlander include Hill Start Control for automatic cars, and Super All Wheel Control system, which uses a front limited-slip differential and an electronically controlled four-wheel drive coupling to prevent wheel slip between front to rear and side-to-side.

Two engine choices are available in Australia for the new Outlander. The base model is a 2.4 litre 4-cylinder unit that produces 168bhp and comes with either a five-speed manual transmission or an optional automatic continuously variable transmission, or CVT.

The other engine offered is a 3.0 litre V6 with 227bhp, which has been improved over the old model. This is due to various improvements including a reduction in intake restriction plus optimized camshaft timing and compression ratio. The V6 is paired to a six-speed automatic transmission with Sports Mode sequential style gear shift change.
