Opel has also given the Astra OPC a series of chassis modifications, including Brembo brakes and a retuned suspension with the Opel’s fully adaptive FlexRide system that features three settings: Normal, Sport and OPC, with the latter promising more focused stages of damper, throttle and steering control.
Externally, the Astra OPC features new sculpted front and rear bumpers, side skirts, a roof spoiler and two prominent exhaust tail pipes in a trapezoid shape, while the interior gets a pair of sport bucket seats with embossed logos in the backs, a flat-bottomed and thick-rimmed sports steering wheel and upgraded instrument panels.
The Astra OPC will be the performance variant in the Astra GTC line-up, and will be powered by a 2.0-litre turbocharged direct-injection four-cylinder engine that produces 280bhp and 400Nm of torque, which are sent to the front wheels via 6-speed manual gearbox and a specially developed mechanical limited slip differential.
