At the 2025 Tokyo Auto Salon, which ran from 10 January 2025 to 12 January 2025, Subaru's motorsport subsidiary, Subaru Tecnica International (STI), unveiled its S210 prototype.
The S210 prototype is based on the WRX S4 STI Sport R EX and developed by incorporating the technology and knowledge gained from the Nurburgring 24-Hour Race.
Its 2.4-litre, four-cylinder engine is based on the WRX S4's FA24, with a newly developed air cleaner, intake ducts, and pre-turbo ducts for the intake system. The exhaust system sports a low back pressure muffler with a newly developed large diameter tail pipe. Additionally, an exhaust pipe rear with a cannonball shaped chamber has been introduced to reduce intake and exhaust resistance. With a specially tuned ECU, the car is able to achieve 304bhp and 375Nm of torque.
This is also the first S-series vehicle to feature the Subaru Performance Transmission, achieving driving force characteristics with a high degree of controllability. The S210 prototype sports Michelin 255/35R19 high-grip tyres and STI Flexible Performance Wheels with specific shapes for its front and rear, as well as specially tuned electronic control dampers and coil springs.
In addition to STI's unique Flexible parts used in the Nurburgring 24-Hour race car, the body is fitted with aerodynamic parts such as the newly developed STI Sport Side Garnish and STI Dry Carbon Rear Spoiler to regulate air flow and achieve high handling performance. The S210 features newly developed RECARO eight-way power seats with carbon backrests. Its interior is based on black tones, offering a space where the driver can concentrate on driving, with red colouring added for effect.
The S210 STI will be limited to 500 units, with sales expected to commence in the first quarter of 2025.
