  • Subaru Legacy gets yet another recall

Subaru has issued yet another recall for the Legacy and Outback models, following two previous recall exercises in the past two months

The latest recall exercise affects 809 Legacy and Outback models built from April 28 through June 23, 2010, with the problem this time being an oil lubrication hole that was not drilled on the 6-speed manual transmission. Subaru informed the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) that hole was omitted "due to a programming error".

According to the NHTSA, if the transmission gears are not properly lubricated, the gears will eventually break. The NHSTA added that a groaning sound may begin to develop alerting the driver of the problem.

Subaru has informed dealers to fix the problem by drilling an oil lubrication hole and, if necessary, replace any damaged internal parts with new ones free of charge. Owners of affected models are expected to contact their dealer for more information.
