  • Toyota updates the Mark X

Toyota has updated the Mark X sedan for the 2010 model year, giving it subtle design changes as well as a brand new engine

The new Toyota Mark X has been redesigned with a new wide front bumper opening, a sporty mesh front grille, a three-lamp layout for the taillights and expansive front and rear pillars. There is also a new 3.5-litre V6 engine available.

The smallest engine offered for the Mark X is the 2.5-litre V6 petrol, which can propel the car from 0-100km/h in 8.4 seconds, and achieve a fuel consumption figure of 13km per litre. The stronger and smoother 3.5 litre V6 is said to be just as fuel efficient.

Safety features abound in the new Mark X, with equipment such as seven airbags, a Pre-Crash Safety System, an Adaptive Front-lighting System, Radar Cruise Control and Hill-start Assist Control all standard. Toyota says that the cavernous 480 litre boot can accommodate four golf bags.

Other interior features include an HDD navigation system with Map on Demand and Intelligent Parking Assist system while the premium models add a built-in terrestrial digital TV tuner and 12 speakers among other luxuries.
