Volkswagen unveils new GTS trim level for Scirocco

Volkswagen has revived the GTS nameplate for the current Volkswagen Scirocco. 30 years ago, the very first Scirocco was rolled out of the assembly line and now its successor carries its name and pride of the GTS nameplate. First showcased to the public at the 2012 Leipzig Auto Show in Germany earlier in the year, the new Scirocco GTS is now available for sale.

To carry the GTS nameplate is something to live up to, so the automaker made sure that the GTS model stood out from the other Scirocco’s with a new cosmetics package that includes stripes running from the bonnet, over the roof and down to the tailgate, red-coloured mirrors.
In the case of the 2.0 TSI, the brake callipers, 18-inch wheels (19-inch optional), a rear spoiler sourced from the 'R' model, and a new rear bumper with a diffuser is also finished in red as well.
The interior of the GTS is adorned with black upholstery with red stitching, piano black lacquer accents on the dashboard, the flat-bottom steering (also with red stiches) and the door trims, the GTS logo on the front seatbacks and the edging around the floor mats, and the signature 'golf ball' gear knob.

The GTS trim level can be combined with a selection of five engines, including the petrol driven, 158bhp 1.4-litre TSI and 207bhp 2.0-litre TSI, the 138bhp 2.0-litre TDI / 2.0 TDI BlueMotion and 168bhp 2.0-litre TDI diesels. In terms of engine power, this is the let-down section as there are no upgrades in performance. You may however find solace in the design section.
