At first week, indicator lights didn't work. Steering felt as if it was not power assisted. Was told is was over sensitive control chip. PM changed it, everything was A ok.
At one year, fuel feed valve failed. Car rocked like a horse at the traffic light junction and broke down. Towed to PM and they rectified it and said there was slight engine sludge which was also flushed out. It was unbelievable that such a thing could happen to a one year old car.
Rattling doors coz of loose tapes covering for power windows. Radiator problems. Condenser problems. Compressor problems.
My experience is not so good. It is a slick marketing campaign to sell the car followed by a seemingly overworked workshop to service my after sales needs.
I have said all I need to say. Judge for yourself.

Agreed with Pckwpckw. BMW 5 series' engine oil consumption is just the pain in the ass. My and my colleague's have to top up every week.
If you bring the thing to the BMW garage, they charge you and say "Sorry, we can't find anything wrong." Incompetent idiots.

Recently purchased the 525. At it's current price it is quite reasonable compared to other cars of the same class. Only thing, it's a soon to be extinct model. HAHA. But afterall it's still a car and eventually all cars will have new successors.
After driving this car for the past week i find that the car body is too heavy. The acceleration is a tad slower than my previous 2003 e240. The steering wheel is also heavier compared to my e240. Also, previously my E240 uses a foot brake however the 525 is a handbrake so sometimes i forget to release the handbrake before i move off.
The seats of the car is generally quite comfortable. But i've yet to find THE spot. Back seat is also more spacious in terms of lenght. But if you are going on a longer journey. Like lets say Jurong to Changi. Avoid having 4 or more in the back seat as towards the end of the seats they curve inwards and makes it uncomfortable for people on the end. 3 average sized adults would be okay still.
BMW's I-drive is very interactive as you can program this bluetooth function to your phone so you can use the carphone to make a phone call instead of your handphone. If only if could read text messages as well! haha.

Test driven the 523i powered by BMW's famous in line 6 engine. Punchy 2.5L engine, fabulous sound insulation and interactive iDrive/Park Assist puts the driver firmly in control.
The brake is one of the best i've tested/driven so far. With its well endowed interior finishes and creature comfort. It is not difficult to see why it is popular choice amongst executives.

BMW should recall all the 5 series to fix the engine problem as it consume a lot of engine oil. For my case i need to top up 1 litre for 2000 km of driving and i know from other forum they say some of the owner even need to change the whole engine. It sound very scary. In UK there is also a lot of talk on this issue if all the 5 series need to change engine i think they will go bust. ThaT WHY NOW THEY KEEP QUIET BUT SOONER OR LATER THINGS WILL SURE BE KNOWN TO THE WORLD.

I have own 2 bimmer over the years they bring me a lot of problem seen day one when i collect my car. I cannot understand is that if BMW can make performance car why can't they improve on their reliability and quality. Then they call it Luxury car, i don think they deserve it. If they don wake up they will become Mercedes losing all their market share to Lexus.

Excellent performance, handling n road holding as compared to the E230 that I've test driven... New Gear-Box is very responsive especially the DS-mode which gives at least another 25% power to its engine... Features wise makes you feel "great" especially the soft close doors, key-less smart entry etc... Overall, this range has improved tremendously as compared to the previous 525i/523i in interior finishing, exterior looks especially with the M-Aerodyanamic bodykit... Truly worth every words of it being called the "Ultimate Driving Machine"...

i have drive the car for the last 24 months, it is a nice car to drive in term of performance and design but the reliability of the car is bad. My group of friend all have bad comment on 3 series up to 7 series due to the poor quality. i think this is the norm of most european car. As you can see even the U S car maker all going to close shop because they never improve on quality, they stress to much on their design and performance but QC is real bad.
Seen the car is brand new the gear box already start to jerk. the cabin is noisy if you drive Lexus you sure cannot take it. The dynamic stability control is damage less than a year. Until now my gear box problem still cannot be solve, as the dealer will tell you all kind of story because is beyond repair the gear box problem is well known in the market. And as usual you need to seal the door with 3M tape.
The problem is a lot, i hope the manufacturer and improve the quality if not it will loss out to Lexus very soon.

Excellent in handling, performance, road holding. All that you expect in this class. Definitely superior over E class.

Excellent BMW handling. Body is solid and engine creamy smooth. Superb grip on corners and power to tap. Looks great with M5 R19 rims & wide tires with M tech kit.

it is a very good looking car.. even though it has been in the market for few years.. I had test drive it when my boss bought it 523i. Good overall

Best outlook but Bad interior.
