Bought this car through a friend recommendation. Saw his somewhere around Aug, but was currently waiting for the SS 'T' edition... finally bought it in NOV '09 and still driving it till now. A very convenient with big spacings in the boot and it is spacious even for a family of 4.
Pick up may be slow but it really does well in heavy massive traffic jam. Audio was good and there's not a need to change to a better one. So far my wife really loves it and so do i... no customise done but beautifying it is my 1st priority as making other drivers glimpse on her... should i say it is a VALUE car for families comfort touring.

I tested this two cars a week ago.
Chevrolet Aveo design quite okay, except for the fact that only 1 airbag.
Kia Rio design very stylish despite having no air bag.

I had 3 choices
1) Kia Forte
2) Hyundai Avante
3) Chevrolet Cruze
But in the end, i bought Aveo Sedan 1.4 SS edition, black.
My 1st choice was Forte but after asking the owners of Forte, reading the reviews, specs, features and even test drive it, I decide to look elsewhere. The Avante's FC is the best, dependable but the car model/design is over 3 years and it's overly lightweight steering which lack some of the feedback you need from a car to take a corner confidently. Lastly, chevrolet cruze...
Test drive, read the specs, reviews and safety features but due to heavy body, its pick up is too slow and FC is slightly high.
Came across Aveo Sedan SS Edition. Read the specs, features, reviews and test drive it. FC is not as good as Advante but better than Forte and Cruze. Interior is better than Forte and steering is as good as Cruze due to heavy body. Exterior is better than Advante as its a SS Edition. Lastly it is reliable with given reviews as this model has been around for more than 2 years just like Advante.
KIA Forte
1) Best in exterior
2) High FC
3) Questions on reliability?
Hyundai Advante
1) Best FC
2) Reliability
3) Design too old
Chevrolet Cruze
1) Best interior
2) Best safety features
3) High FC/Slow pick up

Been driving this car for close to 5 months now. I can say that it is an ideal family car comparing the cost to other makes in its class.
So far it has been a comfortable ride although the pick up could have been better. At 100-110km/hr, the car is still very stable. Top speed only 150 - 155km/h, can't get the meter to go beyond that.
Few hiccups
1) Radio failed me after the first month. I live in Jurong and it took me 2 trips to Ubi before the radio was replaced. The promise to replace the radio "very fast" took me half a day. Very efficient indeed.
2) Just after the second servicing, (10 000km), I noticed that the floor board on the driver's side was wet due to leak somewhere. It caused me another trip to the service centre and was told that the problem is due to a rubber tube came off and it caused rain water to seep into the car. Took the whole day to get it done. I was assured by them that the case is a remote case. Not really sure about that.
3) Don't know what's coming next ....

Just got the car recently, below a month.
The car itself is a good buy for it's price tag. With it's suave and cool looking feel, it's worth the price.
Although the engine's loses out during pick up, but cruising with it feels good. As there external noise, but at a minimal rate which can be drowned with a music tuned up a little.
The car itself had a minor glitch within the month I got it, for eg, the radio broke down unexpectedly. But the service center works great, nevertheless, and agreed to repair. Which I felt is not a huge problem.
This is a good buy for a sweet looking 'transformer' sibling. Everything works steadily well for the whole car in general. For this price tag, it's definately a good buy.
The interior is made up of mainly plastics, but it still feels and look good. So there isn't any qualms about the interior. The interior had cloth fabrics to it, which adds in a touch of less plastics.
The exterior feels and look sexy. It has the curves at the right places, and do not feel oversize in any other way. Sitting in it feels a lil' macho with the broad look from the front.
The boot has a fantastic space. It can fit really loads of stuff in it, no doubt. Great for large boot space seekers.
The features of the whole car works extremely well, such as the air-con. It works without problem even on hot weather. Perfect fit.
Handling of the car feels great, when driven. It feels a little large when driving, but getting accustomed with it after a few drive, and there's no doubt that the handling is great. During high speed, there's no vibrations on the steering.
The sitting setting for the car can fit 5 average adults with a slight squeeze, but with a very comfortable leg room available. Thus the squeeze might not be significant after all.
Relying on this car for the next upcoming years should not be a problem as it works really great. With the fantastic pricing for the conti car.
With VGIS in this car, a surge in speed can be felt after hitting the expected RPM, boosts of the car can be felt.

Have owned and driven this car daily for the last 5mths and am still enjoying it! Engine is smooth, drove it to Malacca at mostly 120-130km/h, hitting 150km/h was as far as I dared as a 1st year driver, tho the car seemed to be wanting more thril than I did. Surprisingly, the engine revved beyond my expectation with its smooth handling. This was despite its being fully seated and loaded with a family's weeklong luggage.

Collected my ride on 04/08/2009. I bought the "T" edition of the Aveo. Overall, it is a nice ride... engine is smooth and handling is great. However, fc is on the high side at 10km/l (i'm a light footer). Pick up is slow due to the 16 inch rims. However, no complains as the bigger rims also look better.

I have own this Chevrolet Aveo sedan (auto) 4 about 3 years 6 months, the engine is very smooth very quiet, very spacious, but slightly lack of power, not so stable in cornering but high speed in straight road very good, exterior is smart but interior accessories need to up grade, FC around 10km/litre. Till today it never give me a single problem just normal mantainance will do.

Engine is smooth. Test drived the manual, lacks power despite manual and flooring the pedal.

i have owned this car for 2mth now so far so good never fail me before and once you own it then you know and for the engine pls don`t compare with those performance car like bigger engine and this engine give average FC 12.5 to 13 so i can say is GOOD.

Drive it 3 times. 1 manual twice auto. Pick up very slow.Best thing in the fuel consumption only. Need upgrade or new engine seriously. One of the worse Thai-made car that i've ever drive.

I have owned Aveo sedan M about 1.5 year, So far I am satisfied for overall performance. In term of FC is dependent to the way you drive your car. For my car the FC is about 12~13.5/L. No any modification made - I only changed to high performance Park plug and using 195/R15 tyre

Wxcellent handling, good suspension, good sound insulation, spacious. 4 adults weighing about 70-80kg each seated in yet car doesn't feel "heavy" though only 1.4cc. Driven Vios, Lancer Glx and Sunny but I must say this is the best ride. If you want that continental ride feeling but don't want to burn your pockets, this is surely the car for you.

It should cost a few thousands less for it to be value for money.

I have own this Aveo Sedan (M) for about 1 and the half year now and I simply love it. It has good fuel consumption ranging between 12.5 - 13.5 km/L for the manual one and 11.0-12.0 km/L for the automatic one. With current hikes in oil prices, I don really feel the pinch in my pocket. But it is definitely one of the better medium size sedan that I have driven before. Price is appropriate, and after sales services and maintenance have no hassles.
