A lot of bang for the buck

Review

Just bought a preowned one to replace my 2009 S300L W221. Boy am I blown away by how much value I am getting I don't even know where to start.

Compared to the W221:

Seat adjustments in an almost infinite number of ways, even the rear seats recline a lot.

Rear legroom seem more spacious but headroom is lesser.

Boot is not as deep

Shorter overhangs esp the boot so more confidence that you won't hit the wall when parking

Not as settled ride

Seem to lack steering feedback

So much more power and FC seems a whole lot better

The gadgets are really a godsend...Still trying to figure out everything

Insulation doesn't seem as good

Power on tap is crazy

Looks tame and easily mistaken for an A6/A4

very heavy doors

best depreciation in the class

Tonnes of bang for the buck

Day by Day getting better!

Review

just clocked in 8000km and it was all great for me... last month decided to changed the tyre to michelin and road noise was much reduced! now the ride much more silent, i am happy with it. Brought it to KL last week with my whole family and they dont feel tired during the journey. The engine performance was great as engine is responsive and gearbox very smooth.

On top of that everytime i drive around the town, all eyes will be looking at my A8 and always become an attention many driver especially in traffic light.

Well in overall this is currently the best car i ever drive, even among its class, A8 definitely.... confirm are better! Though i am a fussy owner but A8 has impressed me day by day. Even my friends and relatives love my car and cant stop praising it when i visit them during CNY.

One more thing i like about this car, Fuel Consumption is something that to proud of, it will never get less than 10km/l. Average fc for my A8 is 10-12km/h though i am not a light foot driver...

So Far So Good!

Audi A8 Tech Rich Luxury Sedan

Review

The A8 need more than powerful engines, oversize grilles and soft leather to satiate today's Executives. The automaker must also showcase their latest technological bells and whistles to draw it's drivers to their side. What can you be expecting? Touchpad? Bluetooth? iPod? There is much more.

Previously, Audi's A8 has always being sort of a back bencher in comparison to its Teutonic competitors, the BMW 7 Series and Mercedes' S-Class. But now, Audi realize that today's luxury car buyer are also very tech-savvy and gadget driven, that's why it has equipped its all-new 2011 Audi A8 with a comprehensive array of electronics from a touchpad to a Bang & Olufsen sound system.

Let's take a look at Audi's Multi Media Interface(MMI). The MMI touch, could be the one significant new features that put Audi as one of the more tech-savvy German automaker in the market. This touchpad controller is located on the driver side of the center console. The MMI controls the infotainment system. Once it's fired up, the electronics and numbers will magically appear. These correspond to the radio presets, and by touching it, it allows you to tune to your preset radio station, but that's the least of what the MMI is capable of.

Using a finger, drivers can also input their desired destination into the navigation system by writing or tracing letters on the touchpad and, like other navs, it will display a list of logical choice destinations as you doodle each character on the touchpad & without the driver having to search and make a selection on a traditional touchscreen or dial in a destination using a rotary controller. Voice confirmation will be heard after each character is entered on the touchpad, so you can enter your desired destination without taking your eyes off the road.

One of the new feature of the onboard Bluetooth system is that, it can also be programmed so that important numbers stay with the car and is not dependent on which phone you use. So if you want certain numbers to be always on hand, e.g. your home number, office or family doctor's number, you can simply program it onto the system & even if someone else connects their phone to the bluetooth & the car's contacts will be displayed along with the other entries.
