Previous ride was 1.3 swift bought second hand, drive till eol no major breakdown, therefore purchase 1.4GLX swift due to it's reliability and low cost of maintenance. Overall quite happy with the performance, thats only small minor issue that need to improve.

Went to test drive the lancer/k3/city/mazda2 as I was looking for a replacement car for my 8 year old manual avante. None of them really caught my eye due to the pricing. I was pretty tempted by the lancer initially but the SE was simply horrible and wasn't interested.
Decided to walk over to champion motors which was just next door and I was amazed by how approachable the SE was. He showed me the glx plus and pricing at 83,900 with 7 air bags, cruise control, keyless entry, button start/stop. Seriously, 7 air bags for a tiny car?! Wow.
The SE encouraged me to go for a test drive as I was skeptical of the 1.4l engine but my worries were put aside. Stepped into the cabin and realized it doesn't have an arm rest but this can be settled for less than $50 via taobao. Interior was surprisingly spacious but boot was non existent. Went for a drive nonetheless and I was not disappointed with the punchy engine. Pick up was good and power/body ratio was adequate as the car weighed only 1 tonne.
Signed on the spot. Parf value of the car is around 6k odd so deducting that, you get a made in Japan car for a depre of less than 8k annually. Pretty reasonable in Singapore context for a proven and reliable car. One of the major sways for me was the 4at gearbox which I preferred over cvt and it's definitely more reliable.

With reluctance, I sold it off 4 months back as its COE was expiring (06/17) and to be honest, some parts needs replacement.
During the 250,000km ownership, it has never break down on me once although it did have a upgraded engine during its 7th year due to my own mistake which cause a cracked engine block.
Fun to drive, great economy (600km/40l), only thing is the small boot space and small interior.
Without any doubt, I would have keep it in my family if there is no COE system.

Bought my ride 3 years back and was unsure what to get. Was recommended by some enthusiastic to get this car for fuel saving and decent engine. Not a day went by whereby I find any complain about the car. True enough, fuel saving. Drove my car to genting and Cameron with totally no issues. Smooth ride and quiet.

The Swift has been here for a long time and the biggest reason why it was such a bestseller was it had character. Nimble gear shifting, sufficiently grunty engine, good throttle response - all stayed true to its name: Swift. Back in its heyday, it was the most practical hatch to own AND was extremely fun to drive when most cars were sporting boring low power plants.
Fast forward today - nothing is wrong with the car. Well almost. For most drivers, we've spent a good decade somehow having had the chance to sit in one or go behind the wheels of one. It was decent, offering sufficient power and was perky. If any car were to be named as a man's best friend, its this Japanese pug over here.
However, times have changed - it is over.
We have already entered an era where radical design is the norm - designs that even forced the most boring car manufacturer to whip their designers in Calty and come up with a new range. What happened here is that Suzuki is perhaps too reluctant to make changes with its best seller and was too content with how it looked like.
It retains its baseball cap shape and design, added a few lightsticks slapped to the foglamp area and added some color changes all hoping to blend among space crafts that redefine the automotive landscape today. What was this dinosaur thinking?
Sometimes, you don't have to keep up with the times - but there's no way this was designed to be timeless. Adopting a simple stance, a moustache grille more reminiscent of an indian farmer than Hitler and looking plum-like paunchy - the Swift is vastly uninspiring for the next generation.
A pity that such a nice car that kept people happy for so long has to exit the industry. However, with a design that's difficult to remember and a lack of motivational design change, the Swift is done for.

In the past, when Suzuki was trying to capture market share, they came up with many different variations of Swift. These include but not limited to 1.2XG/XE, 1.3 and 1.5l engines. When someone buys a Swift, he or she is looking for fuel friendliness, convenience of parking, ease of driving and last but not least, the ability to dispose in the second hand market if necessary. To me, 2011 1.4L Swift is tailored to focus on all and more benefits than they could find in Swift's predecessors.
On the road, Swift's ability to negotiate sharp corners and U turns provides ease of driving on a busy Singaporean road. The improved acceleration, though not powerful, is smooth and quiet.
I have always admired swift's exterior looks for its ability to blend into its surroundings. Even after slight alterations, exterior design has remained competitive against competitors of its range. Swift's outlook is made in a way that it allows any solid or dual color spray paint to to dress well on it. The iconic bumble bee and classy zebra prints has been a common yet well liked combination and this trend is likely to stay. On top of that, the capability of modification on the Swift is amazing. Any workshop is prepared to take on a swift to make it a unique looking one (affordable).
Interior wise, the push start button, "face lifted" air condition controls and refined gearbox never fails to put a smile on any driver's face. Handling of this ride is somewhat similar to its previous versions but is still acceptable.
A car spends most of its life span in the carpark whether indoor or outdoor. Swift faces has no problem fitting into any parking lots. When left there alone, its neighbors feel inferior to the brightly lit Swift.
In conclusion, Tailored Swift meant that Suzuki seemed to gather all the goods of previous Swifts to cater for consumer's needs and wants.

Been driving this little hatch for coming to 1 yr. Frankly speaking, it ain't the fastest, nor the cutest, nor the most luxurious drive around, but its definitely a good balance of everything!
I've a few other rides of equivalent price, in terms of handling and driving feel, its really responsive and tight. Great feeling on foot and on steering wheel. Its not spacious, but its good and comfortable for our small island rides.
Its not a lamborghini, but look wise, I can really say, its looking good at the price you pay!

The Suzuki Swift has been an iconic member of the Suzuki line-up since the 80s, providing an unprecedented appeal to the young and old alike. Those who are looking for a no-fuss, consistent, yet spirited drive should look no further. The interior build quality is decent and easily accessible. You need not thumb through a voluminous manual just to know how to operate the vehicle, which makes it a very conducive experience for new drivers, as well as the older crowd who just want a car that works well from point A to point B. The body colour offerings are also exceptional, with the sombre silver for the more distinguished mature crowd, to canary yellow for the more vibrant and upbeat youthful crowd. It is one of the few cars in the current market that sufficiently provides both power delivery and reliability to the mass market. The power-to-weight ratio of the car ensures that you would not be disappointed when you need to drive slightly more spiritedly, and the overall suspension setup keeps you firmly planted to the ground when doing so. There is a smorgasbord of aftermarket accessories available for the car that make customising it to look one-and-only not an uphill task. Replacement and servicing parts are affordable and readily available. This is indeed the a well-rounded crowd pleaser that gives agility, power, economy and reliability in a neat little package.

It's is a reliable Japanese brand, building on to prefect from it's predecessor success. It would be a great car for new drivers as due to it's size, parking would be easy.

Swift is a very economical car. it does not drink lots of petrol and yet it performs up to expectations. A very nippy and smooth ride. However, passengers may not get the best comfort due to the body-roll n vibrations experienced when making a turn or going over a hump. Will be quite sluggish when going up slope when there is 4 or 5 people in the car.
However, this car is great for someone who is alone in the car most of the time or for a couple.

My review title says it all. I really don't like cars, in fact many of us, which the engine sounds like an airplane taking off. Suziki is not a sports car, so please spare me the rumbling and the raging roar from the engines.
Another plus point about the Suzuki Swift is that its fuel consumption is below average, compared to most cars; but yet, it doesn't lack in performance. Drivers who are very particular about saving fuel and money, this car can be your choice.
Many people see a mini as a small car, but although Suzuki Swift is considered a mini, the interior isn't really that mini. You could fetch a family of 5 without them complaining about the crampy space Suzuki Swift provides. Moreover, with good and precise handling of the steering, the passengers wouldn't feel much uncomfortable throughout the ride; being it a short or long journey.
And due to its small(but not exactly that small) size, parking will be breeze; even for new drivers.
