Consumer Reviews

Got mine c180 from a PI brand new in 2012 nov. Love the car since than, no major issue . I like the car with plentiful of mods available. Like the 1600cc turbo engine, pretty good mileage, 1 tank of 98 always give me at least 730 km , good torque and sport mode for small cc.. So far mileage 32k.. Ya I use my car a lot :)

Just finished my C180 Kompressor COE life cycle of 10 years. When I just got this car, I have a transmission oil leak and a bad fuel tank that screw up my fuel filter too. This results me to have engine stall twice. All this happens within the first year. However, I brought it back to C&C and they got it replaced and the car is good throughout. Need to do the necessary replacement on 60000km, like transmission fluid, suspension, and engine/transmission mount. Btw, my car is consider low mileage usage.

Ok. My review will be based on back-to-back driving between the C Class (C250), Audi a4 (1.8T), BMW 3 series (328i), and the Volvo S60 (T5). I wont talk about the Lexus IS as I own one.
Looks: C Class. Still pretty classic from the front. the rear has aged, but still decently graceful. Best looking in my books is a4 front and 3 series rear. Probably the 3 series looks the best, not by much.
Performance: C250 against the other cars, its slightly better than the a4 but far behind against the S60 (T5) and BMW 3. 328i's engine is amazing, gearbox sublime.
Handling: Ok, the 3 series takes this one, but i think the S60 isnt far behind. Audi and Merc are pretty crap in handling, twitchy, vague, and poor. However, the 3 series isnt clear winner in this segment anymore.
Comfort: Is it a Merc win? errr. kinda, no. I think the S60 is much more comfortable. the seats holds me better. and it is quieter. Merc is second. 328i has poor noise insulation. Audi has good seats but rides lumpy over bumps.
Fuel Economy: Audi wins. all cars were driven with the same driver and same route with almost the same speeds. Merc and S60 is poor.
Sound System: Audi takes this. the B&O really killed the rest. worst is the BMW. Merc is crap too.
So the overall champ? S60. A very unpopular choice, but it does everything well but nothing excellent and yet I feel this is the best car of the lot.
Dear Merc C class of 2014, i feel you should bring your guns, pots, pans and mom to fare better.

Decent solid reliable car with new refresh interior. Power is decent with 250Nm of torque from the new 1.6CGI turbo charged engine coupled with 7G tronic gearbox instead of the old 1.6 Kompressor with clunky 5 speed auto.
Overall the drive is smooth.

I went to C&C in May end 2012 to test drive 1.6 kompressor at the moment i feel the engine is silghty noisy plus pick up is a bit slow.
On that time the sales executive ask me, can your old car can serve you (due to always sent to workshop) until end of aug or september then i ask y he told me the new 1.6 7G the first shipment maybe arrive in around end of aug or september. He want to know whether i interested to purchase that car without test drive. He explained me the 1.6 kompressor and 1.6 7G the difference but of the price also not the same too
So on june i booked the car with the sales executive
The interior and exterior almost the same compare to the 1.6 kompressor version
Only difference is
1.6 7G is 0 to 100 is 8.5 sec. 1.6 kompressor is 9.9 sec REALLY fast
Most important is the engine got smooth and less noise plus faster pick up

This is my first time writing a car review, so pardon me if i missed the impt points. Had been scouting for cars for > 6 months until I test drove the FL C180. Actually, the car wasn't in my consideration list as I didn't quite like the previous version as the interior doesnt look good.
Now, after 2 mths after I had taken delivery, I think this is really a very very nice ride. It has very elegant and luxury interior finishing, power is adequate and has very useful technology. My ride comes with Comad online and mecedes benz own "Siri" which I use to switch between gps / radio / telephone everyday. The brake hold command is also something I used daily.
To me, this car is value for money and also subsequent to my purchase, I had 2 friends who also booked the C class.

The new 2012 C-class made very refreshing new changes to the design both in terms of looks and performance. The new facelift interiors is modern, features packed with thoughtful innovations and very appealing to young buyers who wanted to enjoy a German Marque but yet still projecting a young and sporty image.
Performance wise, the new C-class triumphed in refined driving and maximum comfort level. If you are looking for a racer boy experience, this is not the car you would want to consider. The car offers premium comfort, highest safety level and smoothest drive.
C-class truly depicts " The best or nothing ".

Sat and tested twice before deciding to book the new C180 Kompressor (1.6L). Almost didn't realize that this is a facelift and not actually a replacement model during on my first impression. I compared this against the VW Passat CC 1.8. (very tempting, almost booked this instead of the C180). I know this is not entirely an apple to apple comparison but for the price range thats why i chose them over the rest of the car. Never really like the Audi A4 or the Volvo S60 and the BMW 3series looks really dated now although they are great cars too. With high COE this days, i have to compare at price rather than class of the car. I am sure many of you will agree too.

Tested the C200 and was told C180 and this had the same engine except for some features differences.
The interior gave me the upper class feel whereby its stylish and is able to capture any young wannabes to get it against other common yuppiees makes such as Audi or BMW.
The drive was great and handling was excellent. Gear changes was smooth whereby you could not feel the ups and downs of it. Engine was quiet which thanks to German engineering and Merz long culture of producing quiet luxury cars.
The great feature I see in C200 is the PARK HOLD in which once you stop at traffic lights, you tap and depress the brake pedal and the car HOLDs for you being shown in the front tachmeters. Tap the throttle and off it goes again. Great to have.
Another is the parktronic (forgotten if its the correct name)...it shows front and back sensors telling you how close you are on to the cars by your sides.
Boot space was wide for this kinda size but only thing is still doesn't come with push start like the E class or higher...
Overall, its a great car to have if you wanna consider.

I decided to book a C200 after test drove both C180 1.6cc Kompressor & C180 1.8T 7G-Tronic.
The C180 Kompressor is noisy, but I will rate it as best comfort of most 1.6cc cars.
The C180 with new 1.8cc turbo charged engine even more impressive.
You won't believe it's a 1.8cc engine. Amazing power reach 100km/h within seconds & yet silent.
I also went test drove few 2.0 & 2.4 Japanese made cars, some of them acceleration are quite laggy.

Go for test drive, the new turbo charged engine is impressive. You won't believe it's a 1.8cc engine. Amazing & powerful.
I test drove few Japanese made cars, the acceleration are laggy even though they are 2.0cc & above.
The new 7G-Tronic gearbox really feel almost no gear changes.
