I had test driven the M25/Q70 previously when they were being offered at @190K. However the then look, the refinement, were a little short of the ES250 standard which was then just being introduced in 2013-2014. The new face lifted Q70 looks a lot more aggressive and small changes in sound proofing ( as read in the trade articles ) and interior made me curious as I do like the long bonnet and curves in this car. I test drove the 2.5 model, V6 with 214 bhp. Smooth but not silent. Grunts when you push it and the sense to being push along typical of RWD is a nice sensation. The overtaking and acceleration is OK and enough for local and Malaysian higways. Ride is firmer than Lexus but not jarring. Interestingly it felt tauter but defintely more muted than the previous model - maybe it was the route we took. The last time we drove in the Portsdown area. The interior has a new larger and sharper screen. Otherwise not much change. It comes with a standard sun roof. It would be a possible alternative usual German executives and the ubiquitous Lexus.

Drove the 2.5l version. At first glance, the styling is a bit questionable. Doesn't have the same poise or presence as a 5 series or E class but it does look very unique. Still unmistakeably Japanese in design unlike the newer Korean cars which either look German or alien. Handles quite well, similar to a 5 series but slightly more comfortable. The engine delivers power very smoothly thanks to the lack of turbos. First thing I noticed was the exhaust note. 2.5l V6 produces a great sound compared to the inline 4s of the German rivals and the lack of sound in the GS from as low as 3000 rpm. Accelerates nicely but lacks the torque of turbocharged cars.
