Consumer Reviews

Bought this car in aug 2015. One of the last few batches of d2 version.
Engine torque is amazing and i find myself driving in sport mode alot. Handles like a dream even for a front wheel drive car. Overtaking is easy and quick. No body roll.
Acceleration stated 12.1 is totally not true, this goes alot quicker i can assure you.
Reliabilty too early to say, worried about the dual clutch gearbox. Banging on the fact that it is a wet clutch, should be better for our weather and driving style. Heard around volvo has a clean record, its also a quality item. Feels made to last.
i average about 18kml, a big difference from my old jap car (8kml). Fuel is also cheaper than bottled water. I top up full when its about 2/10. Costs me 38 +/- :D
Overall the best engine for singapore imho.

Been driving my blue Volvo V40 D2 for about 4 months and my average fuel consumption is 20km/liter of diesel which is great, but not as close as advertised of 24-25km/liter. Prior to my purchase, I've been looking at others like Volkswagen, Audi and Mercedes but Volvo V40 stood out from the rest in areas like safety features, handling and pricing within its class. To make it more special, I have chosen the blue colour which Volvo only brings in 1 or less in a month, thus making my car slightly more unique on the road.

You don't see too many on the road. Hatchback design has its own unique class. Awesome Torque. Fantastic Mileage. Made in Sweden.

The car was superb.Despite being a diesel(115 bhp),it was super punchy as there was a lot of torque and when I pressed down on the accelerator it quickly flew off and overtaking other cars was a piece of cake. The gear shifts from the 6-speed powershift transmission was very smooth. After the drive I checked the average fuel consumption and it was much better than my current volkswagen golf mark 7.The salesman also told me that one full tank of diesel costs $70 and it can be driven for 1100km twice what my golf does.(inside)The diesel engine was very quiet even during start-up and when accelerating smoothly-the engine was only a tiny bit noisy when it was pushed hard(the car was only very noisy when the air-con was turned on full). The interior of the car was very pleasant, and the seats were fantastic. The space in the car was also good as the boot was big and flexible with underfloor storage under the boot floor and the space in the back sets were adequate, while there was a lot of storage points in the front while the glove-box was huge and I particularly liked the storage point behind the "floating center console" .The ride was quite good and there was little to no body roll at all.The steering and handling of the car was excellent as the steering was sharp and accurate at the same time being light enough to turn it easily and smoothly at u-turns and round-abouts.The sales consultant,Dean Lee,was kind and the total experience was good.
