Consumer Reviews
From time to time I get to drive my friend's car, he bought when it was on promo for $10x k. Probably closest comparison will be vs Mazda 6, a fellow mainstream mid size sedan. If you want power, no complains, however it is still an almost 1.6 ton car so 0-100 is still about 10 sec, but because of diesel torque, the midrange acceleration does not disappoint so it feels like a 2.2 or even 2.5 litre petrol car in traffic. And in terms of FC no petrol car can come close, even after diesel tax you will easily beat any 2.0 petrol. But handling wise, Insignia cannot beat the Mazda. Interior wise I will say Mazda has the edge for a fresher design but when it comes to materials and ESPECIALLY interior space, Insignia doesn't lose out at all. Downsides may be the perceived reliability and cost of parts (pls check all servicing costs thoroughly with Alpine). Overall, the Insigina strikes as a great choice for those who prefer a bit of Conti luxury and want a impressive spacious cruiser with great FC, if compare vs Mazda 6, unless you are not particular about space, you really like Mazda Kodo Design (who doesn't right!) and you drive like Vettel on a daily basis then take the Mazda. Otherwise, Insignia all the way.
