Having driven the previous generation Q5 2019 for 5.5 years, the current Q5 Mild Hybrid is a major disappointment.
The interior is simple and classy but its really starting to look dated as compared to its German brethren. The decision to delete the center control wheel and make the MMI purely touchscreen is a complete step back it makes using the MMI a bit of challenge while on the move.
The handling is direct but lacks feedback but this is to be expected from an SUV. S Line suspension is firm but not bone breakingly hard. Its still able to absorb the odd bump here and there.
Power is where the current Q5 leaves more to be desired. Previous Q5 had 252bhp, current version (perhaps to meet the revised CEVS bands) have a drastically reduced engine output. The difference is night and day between the 2. Its a bitter pill to swallow when we compare the pre FL Q5 vs the current Q5, we pay a higher price but in return get a reduced package.
Quattro is still superb, but with the lower power output, its less "Fun" To drive.
Audi's Q5 looks like any other SUV within its range, but that bland exterior hides a massively capable vehicle underneath.
