This is my humble review after 1year usage of Camry Hybrid 2.5 XV70. Bought in Dec 2024 from Prime Cars. Clearance unit at great price.
My previous cars: Suzuki Swift 1.4, then Honda Shuttle 1.5 due to newborn son.
Was considering Corolla Cross hynrid 1.8 but chanced upon Camry clearance unit at Prime Car.
Camry ticks all the following boxes which I require:
Great handling: TNGA platform provides exceptional handling and stability at high speed. tested on NSHW in msia at 160km/h. Suspension is soft and comfortable but still decent enough to take corners at high speeds.
Great FC: consistently getting 16-17km/l. 50% city 50% highway. heavy footed driver. I can never exceed 12km/l on Shuttle 1.5.
Great Engine power: 2.5 lit engine provides ample power in Singapore and Malaysia driving.
Great air-con: powerfully cold aircon from Toyota. rear aircon powerful too.
Great space: Ample space for family with kids
Great sound insulation: Not most quiet but peaceful enough on highway speeds.
Great price: Managed to get this unit at slightly below $200k, COE at $115k.
Don't think I can find another car that can match Camry hybrid 2.5 XV70.
What is there to say about the Toyota Camry that has not already been said? It's the iconic Toyota product, next to the Corolla, and sports a hybrid drivetrain from a firm that pioneered the technology. Of course this is a competent sedan.
It may be overstyled to death on the outside, but underneath is still a wildly competent family sedan.
