Facelift 1.0 Turbo
Test drove the FL Kamiq awhile ago. Instead of the 1.5 turbo, it now comes with a 116 PS 1.0 engine with a variable geometry turbo. Overall the car still feels the same as the pre-facelift, but where the differences lie is in its equipment levels. While the 1.5 turbo variants had plenty of kit. The 1.0TSI Selection combines the Ambition + Style trim together. Overall, the car looks more rugged. The headlights are half the length of the pre-facelift lending it a more aggressive look. Inside, the interior is still as up-market as the 1.5 TSI Style was, but the seats are more eco-friendly with recycled plastic fabrics. Great for hot weather, a pain to clean. On the drive, the car according to Melvin, the turning radius of the car is small enough for the tightest of corners. The 1.0TSI is responsive enough for city driving, the VGT helps the car on the expressway. While the test drive model's engine was not worn-in yet, the fuel economy returned 14 km/l mixed city and highway driving. Driving aggressively, the car is capable of spirited driving despite the smaller engine and 35 less hp. So to conclude, the Kamiq is back, with less features and a smaller engine, but still offers the same drive and feel as the pre-facelift. But for the price, I'm still left thinking whether to buy it or not.... Read More
Fiesty little rally car for city driving.
When COE was at a manageable level, Kamiq presents a well rounded car that has a peppy engine, great rally-like feel and lots of features included. Suitable for boy racer growing up and have to step up to their family duties with affordable road tax contribution. Can get thirsty for a 1.5l TB engine when driven aggressively or with lots of city driving. Fuel economy is at its best when doing highway journey. Gearbox not happy to be rushed. Slow crusing is rather peaceful for a hot hatch. Blast the music if you want to hoon around without hearing the harsh engine when revving.... Read More
