The superbly superb Superb
The Škoda Superb has returned to Singapore in its Kombi form, and it's better than ever. Now standard as the top-notch Laurin & Klement variant, it aims to give its German competitors a run for their money.
At about 5 meters long and 1.9 meters wide, it comfortably stands alongside both the 5 Series and the E Class while being close to $200,000 cheaper. That however doesn't mean it's not a quality car. It feels solidly put together, bar a few cheap feeling knobs and trims here and there. But you can't really complain for a car of this caliber that's going for much less than its premium competition. There's plenty to like and it's packed full of features like a full-length panoramic sunroof, Canton sound system, massaging seats, sleeping headrests, 4-way lumbar support, DCC plus (adaptive suspension), comfort entry, these are all quirks that make life easier and comfortable. Even the doorbins have felt lining which isn't present in more premium German rivals.
The 1.5L engine is a little on the less powerful side, but it's manageable. Steering is pretty good, it's easy to place this car even though it's quite long. You can pop it in and out of corners if you'd like, but it's not really a car meant to be driven in that manner. Its strong point lies in comfort, and oh boy does it deliver. The DCC Plus works wonders, giving you what you want be it a firmer drive or a floaty one. The smart dials make it easy to change the drive mode and adjust the climate without taking your eyes off the road which is a huge plus!
If you're after a luxury limousine that doesn't break the bank, here's the answer. It's superb, and it's a Superb.... Read More
