Should have:
- double din dvd touchscreen player with reverse camera.
- Leather wrap on door panels, steering wheel and gear knob

Slow pick up but mid and top speed cover it up. Affordable to own and maintain. Should come with new tuned engine next year.

Been driving a 1.6(A) for 2 plus years with about 56,000km. Here is a short list of issues
1) Auto trans valve body changed under warranty at around 22,000 km. Still within the first 12 months.
2) Engine knocks and pings even on 98 RON fuel. Has been going on since the first year I got the car.
3) Poor service rendered by the dealer. As always, there does not seem to be anything wrong with the car each time it is brought in. Owner must be hearing things.
4) Odd rattling noises from the interior of the passenger cabin.
5) Tappet noise heard even after the engine has warmed up. But has anyone checked if the valve lifters are worn? Guess not, since the answer is always the same,"sir this sound is normal." Also because if the lifters are worn, it would have to be changed under warranty.
6) Fuel consumption is within tolerance but the engine is somewhat unrefined and noisy when it is nudged at little.
Overall, this experience has left a somewhat sour taste in my mouth. I keep going back to the dealer for regular servicing simply because the car is still under warranty and the auto trans has given problems before. I have no confidence in the car at all not to mention the lackluster service I have received. From what I read on the reviews, I must agree, for a little more every month, one could get something better. I would probably not buy another Hyundai for a while.

I had been driving Hyundai Verna 1.4 (M) for nearly 1 year.
The cabin is large enough for a compact car, front seats are large enough and driver won't feel 'cramped' as the door trims are designed with reference to European styling.
If you are not an aggresive driver, engine is quiet and fuel consumption is low, average around 13km/l, City:12km/l, H/W:14.5km/l.
Handling is average, suspension is rather soft, steering and brakes are responsive. However, stock tyres are Kumho brand with average grip and rather noisy.
The only little wrong about this car, the features are very basic, no auto folding wing mirrors, no front map reading lamp with sunglass storage compartment and only 1.6 CVVT variant comes with ABS.
Exterior styling features a smiling face when looking at the front view. However, the it is starting to age and Malaysia's Verna (Accent) are more stylish, it comes with wing mirrors with signal lamp and full body kits. Perhaps Komoco should consider launching a 'Sports Version'?

I bought the car in 2006 at a price tag of $52k, which at that time it considerably a good price for a small sedan with good leg space, 1.6 CVVT engine, 4 disc brake with ABS and big boot space.
I have been driving this car for almost 2.5 yrs, and I still find that I like this car a lot.
This car is pretty silent in cabin, and very stable when cruising along north-south highway. I have been travelling with some Japanese car, and I found that the silent and stability of the car cannot be compared.
Travelling at 140km/h and I still able to overtake car with good torque at 152km/h with my 195 55 R15 tyre.
I would say the FC of this car is average. This car has been using Shell synthetic engine oil, and at one time I changed my normal spark plug to Denso Iridium spark plug, my FC improve to 11~12km/L (from 10km/L).
Due to the torsion beam suspension at rear, the car will bounce left-right when go over the hump not at a correct angle, which I don't like.
However, the overall suspension of this car is soft and result in a comfort ride of this car.
Cornering performance of this car is fairly poor as the rear of the car will be throw outward when you enter a corner when roads is uneven. This has been improved after I install a performance tyre (more grip and softer compound) and the car now stick firmly when I enter every corner. However my FC has dropped seriously. Give and take really.
Overall, I would only recommend this car if you have limited budget. Top up a few k more you may get a better car.

After own 1.6A Verna for 2 years, always thought of change car. With top-up slightly S$30-S$50 monthly, I could have get a better car like Mazda 3 or Altis. I think Sirion also not bad, exactly same as Myvi (Mod and spare part available at M'sia)

Overpriced. reduce another 5k and it will take off as a budget car. Hyundai cars should be marketed as affordable cars and not as a challenger to Jap cars. Hyundai, get real.

Excellent budget car

Dont waste your time, Hyundai cars is famous for high fuel consumption, there are better make and models out there in the market, dont choose this junk, everyday u open classified you will see many people selling off this junk, what does that shows? verna doesnt impress anyone, its small and high fuel comsumption, so dun waste your time and money invest on other cars

Its always got a better choice with this price range
