A very worthy and practical car to drive

Review

Hello everyone,

I would like to give compliments to this car, even I know very well that the facelift has the same engine since some years ago. Although, I am aware that it has only 5 speed, the overall criteria for choosing a car makes the Honda more than worthy.

I would believe that a new Accord may be available in Singapore but it is likely to have a CVT engine. Perhaps, a 1.5L turbo engine. Although it may be more powerful for torque, it will only bring down the status of the long established reputation for Accord name.

Having said that, my main reason why the Accord will still be a practical car to drive here have many valid reasons. The major reasons include:-

(1) Guaranteed to last since it has been trail and tested for generations

(2) Gears are still better than CVT. (Question: Are you sure that performance cars like Mercedes, BMWs, Audis, etc will do away with their Gears (dual-clutched) and replace it with CVT? If yes, then go ahead and dream on that F1 racers will be CVT too.)

(3) From the point of view in the luxury category, it has a Stately and executive look..... Business look if you do not own a anything above cars like the Mercedes E250, 5 series BMWs, and A6 Audi.....

(4) The correct cabin room for a business class passengers. It is comfortable to talk business even during journeys.

(5) Very good view from inside to see the outside surroundings

(6) Very very reliable car. Not likely to break down if it is maintain regularly. Japanese cars especially in this category is assuring to travel in every aspect. Short and long distance not a problem.

(7) Comfortable ride and quiet cabin. Good aircon circulation.

(8) Very large boot space for carrying items.

(9) Infotainment is on par with technology

My Husband and I love this car

My husband and I just bought the Accord recently. Personally, I am very satisfied with this new buy. He reads many forums before buying this car and I have decided to write a few lines here.

I am giving my full support for this car in this forum. It is a very large car. As a passenger myself, I enjoy being chauffeured around. I love the back seats too.

Overall, the car is very comfortable. It is quiet inside the car. I love this new buy compared to a smaller car we had before. In fact, I love the power of this car and it exceeds my expectations in every way.

A good buy.

Wonderful experience to own and drive the Honda Accord 2016

The New Honda Accord is a great choice in terms of a comfortable, feature-filled, and reliable midsize car.

When one takes all the criteria into consideration, the Accord slightly edges its equivalent rivals in Singapore.

Few other cars epitomise the concept of "A good car" More than the Honda Accord. There's a reason it's been around for forty years and remains one of the top-selling vehicles in Singapore.

The Accord will keep you (the driver), and the entire family happy and comfortable for years to come.

Finally, to be fair to make my comments here, I would like to make comparison with Honda’S own family member. It can be tough to choose between the Accord and its smaller sibling the NEW Honda Civic (either 1.6 or 1.5 Turbo). Both the Accord and Civic have fuel-efficient engines, lots of features (Civic more features and latest electronic gadgets), and upscale interiors. They even have a good amount of cargo space in the trunk. Ultimately, your decision should boil down to what you’Ll be using the car for. If you think you'll have adults (family members, guests, clients, etc.) in the back seat frequently, the Accord is the better pick.

For me, it is the obvious choice – The Honda Accord.

I am driving Honda Accord. It is more than 3 years old. I like to contribute my comments and support for this great car. It serves me well and done me justice.

I need not have to test drive the facelift 2016 Accord. It has the same engine. But what I can testify is that the engine and performance outshine its competitors in this category. I don't even need to further emphasise on the reputation and status of owning the Accord. It can be viewed that the person driving such a car is established in his or her career, about 40 years old and above, usually a male, educated or semi-educated, at least a high managerial position and in some cases, a boss of a company.

The car itself is great. There are so many things I like about this car.

I am sure that the new makeover 2016 has better features and judging from its exterior look, it is already deem to be a better car compared to mine.

Congratulations to all those who own the refresh variant.

Thank you to all.

Better than I thought

Hi guys,

Got a chance to test drive several mid-size sedans: Camry, Accord, Teana, Mazda 6, and Legacy. All were very good and the one that impresses me most is the Accord. I need to write about this myself after reading so many reviews about it and tested it for myself.

It is a close competitions amongst these cars. I personally narrow to 3 main cars: Camry, Accord and the Mazda 6. My decision is mainly based on the criteria for overall look both interior and exterior, engine performance, comfort, handling (the feel for the drive on the road), and its reputation.

The Camry is actually a very serious consideration in coming close to my decision to purchase a new car. It has everything except for the overall interior and exterior look. The Mazda 6 does not have the cabin room I was looking for. The Accord has everything in my tick box.

The Accord has that feel on the handling. It really has a good hold on the road, something like the Legacy too. The Camry does not have it. The Mazda is OK except I do not like the Start-Stop function, just like the continental cars.

Hence, my choice is the Honda Accord.

I already got a successful bid for this car and I am happy to drive this in about a month from now. Surely, I will give the best ranking for something I bought.

By the way, it was a good price compared to many of the recent Honda Accord owners.

Thanks guys.

The last review was done in 2014 let alone, it is dated. Many things has changed since these 2 years. However, the 5 speed remain the same.

I would like to share my personal experience with the New Accord 2016. I collected my car about 1 month ago. I love it. It's like a "Wife" Just like our personal weapon in our NS days. I feel the connection.

The new facelift has several improvements. The steering wheel is re-adjusted to give the drive more "Feel". It handles well and the control has improved.

The suspension is soften to allow smoother ride. It is comfortable when going through street humps.

The cabin sounded more quiet compared to the previous Accord. It rained these few days and I find the noise very tolerable.

The 5-speed remain no change for this generation. I will believe that there will be very little difference if Honda ever change it to 6 speed. So, personally I am very ok with this. At least, I know that the Accord can climb our Mount Faber easily with the 5 speed ratios. For me, no CVT please. Automatic transitions will remain one of the best methods.

In summary, Honda Accord is a CAR. I am sure many drivers who appreciate cars know what I am taking about with the description as a CAR must be a CAR.

Take care.

It has to be the Best

Review

I contemplated whether to buy the facelift accord 2016 (2017) now or wait for the new model around 2018 end. Eventually with little doubts and, after much thinking, I believe this current model will be the Best.

The much rumoured new model may be available in Singapore towards the end of 2018. The specs are not confirmed but it is believed that the engine will be turbocharged. The body will look like the Lexus.

They are in fact, using, the current Civic 15L to do the test.... And many of Singaporeans are just buying the car with little background knowledge. As expected, there are complaints already for other countries. Singapore has not published yet.

Therefore, if the 2018 Accord comes in, well, it may also risk having turbo engine problems (overheating). Personally, it does not make sense if the car is turbo charged that comes with a CVT gearbox (this is what I gathered). Even if it comes with a Dual-clutched gearbox for the 2018 Accord, I will still prefer not to be the first to try it. ....(forget about their in-house tests and so on..... I know lah).

Not related, I am sure you guys are familiar with the new Windows 10.... Then updates to fix bugs, updates somemore and so on. Now, Win 10 is more or less stable. The same analogy applies to a new engine if the Accord is going to have a turbo-charged engine, CVT, electronic brakes, engine remote start-up, etc.

Generally, Japanese are "New" In this technology compared to Continental cars and it may take another 8 to 10 years to perfect it (meaning at least 2 or more models or facelifts to reach that stage). Moreover, I don't see Toyota, Nissan or even Mazda coming on so fast in turbo engines. Maybe, they let Accord do the test first. So they adopt "Wait and see" Approach.

Hence, my decision is to stick to this latest or oldest 5 gear speedbox engine which is already successful in many ways. Furthermore, repairs and maintenance should be affordable and easily accessible whether from agent or third party.

Ultimately, I stand firm in my decision to purchase the Accord 2016 model taking advantage of the recent Motorshow freebies.

Enjoy your car shopping.

Honda Accord is my Choice

Review

I had driven Honda Accord, Toyota Camry and the Nissan Teana. Lately, I drove the Mazda 6 too. All are good cars. I love the Honda Accord best.

I felt that the facelifted Honda Accord had won my vote in terms of road handling, design and comfort, engine performance and reliability.

The infotainment system will please drivers who a dual display, Apple car play, and the lane watch.

The well-tuned linear 2.0 litre engine will not disappoint in city and highway driving. Unlike other cars, a family car need not necessary to have the Sports mode.

Actually, I am amazed by the fuel consumption for the 2.0 litre engine with its 5 speed engine. I had test driven the Camry 2.5L (comparable, slightly better on engine performance) and the Nissan Teana (2.5L) and both are comparable to the Honda Accord fuel consumption. In fact, both of these cars are very slightly higher on fuel usage. Only the Madza 6 beats them all on fuel efficiency.

I personally feel it is the best value for money although it is the most expensive lot compared to those cars that I am comparing. There is always a slight price to pay for in the Japanese luxury sedan segment. Since, the COE is down, I encourage car buyers to consider the Accord.

At the end of the day, be true to yourself in your needs, family needs, and your budget.

Honda Accord is my choice.

Settle for the Best

Review

Although I do not own an Accord, my friends do and I have driven it before. I have also driven a Jazz before. More importantly, I owned a Honda Civic before changing to a Continental model. My advise is always settle for the Best.

The Accord is the Best Sedan for Honda. It is the their flagship, their Icon. It will always be their best. They have a reputation and image to upkeep. So, the engine, parts and components, its technology has to be the Best.

For the next down model, if I may put it, it is the Honda Civic. It is their second best Salon car. Surely, some of its parts and components are never meant to be better than the Accord. Of course, they market it cleverly on your needs, size, price, and even on the engine power.... Turbo, etc.

Next down, example, like the Jazz .... And many more variety. They are good but my point is they can never be better than the Accord. Otherwise, it will never make any business sense. Of course, I am not saying they are no good. Their parts and components are different and so on.

In conclusion, always settle for the best when buying a car. You will never go wrong. So, if your budget is lessor, then go for the next make. Example, Camry, Mazda 6, Legacy and Teana. If the budget is still lower than that, then, I am afraid that you may want to settle for Mitsubishi Lancer and Suziki Ciaz.

Thank you for allowing me to express my opinion.

I am driving a Honda Accord 2015 and I would like to assure the audience that the current version of the 5AT is very much justifiable. I am a qualified senior mechanical engineer so I will like to comment on some of your doubts.

For a start, there are some cars having 6 Auto gears. They are not as efficient, use more overall fuel consumption, less engine power, weaker effective output, and performance. This is based on similar size, weight and travelling speed of the car in making comparison.

As you probably would be smart enough to know what I am saying, the Honda Accord 2.0L cannot really be changed to 6 gears based on its size, weight and average city speed of 80-110Km/h. With the new 6 gear speed ratio, the Honda Accord will compromise on its pickup, engine power, output and performance. There is no doubt there will be a little smoother in gear shift (more division) but it there will be very little feel for the driver. On the other hand, if the Accord is 2.4L and above, then I think it will be OK for 6 gears and above. Again, the output and the torque are re-adjusted meaning you will need to drive faster to feel the difference. Simple meaning, it is not meant for our roads here unless you want to test the Police efficiency in catching you for a ticket. In any case, the current 5 speed comes with Grade Logic Control and Shift Hold Control in good enough. Simply means, the car is tuned to efficiency, fuel consumption, output and performance.

To sum up, all Honda Accord drivers enjoy the unequalled serenity, as well as it dynamic performance and graceful riding feel, enhanced with driving precision all round. Simply mean, more than good enough. Bluntly out it, the Honda Accord surpass other similar models with higher sounding specifications.

I dare say that the Honda Accord is better in overall performance than its existing rivals, just engine performance alone.

Thanks for hearing me out. Honda Accord is a good choice if not, the Best.

About 2 months and still the absolute correct choice

Review

I have been driving the new facelift Accord for over 2 months and I love it every moment as a driver. My passengers included my family and friends gave it thumb-up too. I love it and I want to say that it is the correct choice and a good buy.

I would like to share my thoughts.....

My initial concerns over some issues about the Accord was simply an overly anxiety on my part. I need to mention the important ones basically there are 3 matters. Firstly, the 5 gear box. Answer, no it does not matter and it is smooth transition each time whether upshift or downshift. I am very familiar with dual-clutch having driven before. In comparison, it is close to although the dual-clutch is always ready to make the shift. The disadvantage to dual-clutch is the cost of repair if damaged. Secondly, the insulation. No, the Accord is silent. They must have improved the insulation alot. I have checked and notice the flooring below the mat has insulation too. The roof seems to have a thinner lining compared to other cars but still no effects on the cabin noise on everyday driving. Raining days may sound a bit louder but still very much bearable. Besides, how many raining days are there in Singapore each year? The very most, 30 days or so. Thirdly, the insufficient airbags. I think 4 is enough because the Accord is really made from tough material.

On the plus side, it is almost everything I want to compliment. It is a breeze to drive this huge car. Huge is important. Style is modern. Features are there. Engine performance and reliability need to emphasize further.

Without doubt and without regrets. I am sure this is the correct choice for me after having owned about 5 cars before. I have tried Nissan, Toyota, Volvo, BMW and Audi before. Ultimately, I love the Accord best.

Till this date, all my Japanese cars I owned never fail me. The rest had some ways or another and has cost me some money for repairs.

Thank you for reading. To sum up, Japanese cars are more suited for Singapore roads and climate. Worth the money, investment, time and energy.

Cheers!

Hi,

I read about some of your reviews and I went down to test drive the Honda Accord, Toyota Camry, Mazda 6 and the Nissan Teana. All of these cars were great. I did not buy any because my existing car is still new.

Here are my conclusion if I have to change my existing car.....

I will use 1 word to describe each one of the 3 I did not pick although a word is never enough. Camry is stable. Teana is waiting . Mazda is sporty.

I choose the Honda Accord. It has this emotion that I cannot put into words whether I am driving or as an passenger. Instead of the usual comfortable. Design, features, engine, etc, you got the feeling that you are special, like a boss. You look good outside the car, look great inside the car and look fantastic driving it.

Hence, although I am not an expert in car reviews, I simply look this new facelift model.

I bought the Honda Accord. A good choice, a good deal, a good car.

Previously I drove a German-Made Car. Within the first 3 years, it broke down twice, the gearbox twice, the transmitter once, the batteries twice, the petrol cover once, and was about to change the dashboard control display which was flickering once a while. Enough is enough.

Honda Accord was my first choice. I had a second choice and I would like to mention it as Zoom Zoom 6. The latter choice had everything going except the Accord met a few more of my important requirement.

I came to the decision of buying the Accord with many thanks to you on this forum and those potential car buyers I met at the car showrooms at Honda and the surrounding area. We spoke and exchanged our experiences and they all shared that if budget is not an factor when making the comparison for the Japanese models, then the Accord should be on top of the list. So thanks everyone.

See you all on the road.

It has good fuel efficiency, sharp dynamics, spaciousness and practicality.

As a family car, it has fantastic generous rear legroom and wide door apertures. The ride is soft well-absorbed over undulations. Furthermore, the boot is quite huge.

The user-friendly interior is both elegant (with a black colour scheme) and luxurious. This feels very German-like and classy instead of the cheap-feeling and dated interior adorned with acres of plastic wood trim.

Extremely good handling for such a long car. Acceleration is awesome too for a 5AT.

With a low COE now, it's a value for money buy. Luckily I got this Accord after the COE results. I am a very HAPPY guy. You too if you are thinking of the Honda Accord.

Greetings to ALL,

I tried the car recently and I am surprised how good it was.

For Japanese models, I have tried almost all from the same class 2.0L or above. I did not take long before coming to a conclusion that the my preferred brand will be Honda. The choice is the Accord.

It is comfortable in the cabin as a driver and passenger. I trust from word-of-mouth that Honda, in this case the Accord, is reliable. Not known of any road breakdowns for me. Surprisingly, the engine is responsive and energetic. The exterior looks aggressive and refined. The interior by comparison with what I have seen will be good. The material feels high quality. The display screen is huge enough for the driver who is supposed to take short glances once awhile. For the price, it is expected for the premium name.

I will consider buying this if I narrow my choice down to Japanese brands.

Thank you readers.
