Review
Comfort - good comfort when set to comfort and normal drive mode, made more comfortable by cabin space and upholstery.
Reliability - not sure but read up about EA888 Evo4 and DQ381 gearbox; My take is that this engine should be reliable and wet gearbox itself is robust but may be caused by the MU if there is issue in normal operation / shifting of gears.
Handling - very stable when driving and turning, 4motion model can accelerate while U-turn except being limited when detects wheel spin. Could reach 3-figure speeds without realizing because of how stable it is despite SUV stature. Acceleration is brisk especially in sport mode. Turbo felt like spooling half a second to release boost in normal mode means need some getting used to / practice.
Exterior styling - akin to a well groomed and dress gentleman with a hint of sportiness (R-line trim). Fake exhaust garnish not every one's liking. Well put together as evident in the small gaps and tight fit of different parts of vehicle. Probably exceeds the built of those luxury brands in similar price range.
Interior design - being mostly dark gray implied somewhat conservative and boring design; Saving grace being ambient lighting (31 colors iirc) with some matt silver trims, white tubing on dark gray leather seats and digital cockpit. Again, all parts appeared and felt well put together with almost no squeaks (unless deliberately exert significant strength). Centre console didn't even budge trying to push it side to side.
Features - wireless Carplay and AA, can play external media using thumbdrive. HU, aircon all touch controls. Steering controls combo of touch / press. Both front electric seats with lumbar adjustment. 360 cam. Rear seats recline and traverse adjustable; Knock down level from tailgate side provided. No driver assist tech
Value for $ - not so at current period and due to branding / past repute, yet at this price point it's either getting cat A entry luxury or cat B feature / performance rides.
Engine performance - stock 187bHP 320Nm moving 1.7 ton feels somewhat more than adequate

What I like
Exterior, interior, handling, engine performance, comfort, versatility, decent PARF if one is willing to look past badging.

What I do not like
Price in current COE climate, no driver assist tech, future tyre replacement pricey (19" for Elegance, 20" for R-line), driving in normal mode needs some practice due to slight turbo lag.

Review
Had the Tiguan highline for almost a year now and the car has been pretty solid. What has been most impressive is the drivetrain and interior practicality. The engine and gearbox combo is rather responsive yet fuel efficient. The interior is also a rather nice place to be as there are features like the digital instrument cluster and apple carplay. Ride quality and NVH is also very good even when compared to other European makes. However, one aspect that has lots of room for improvement is on the safety front. Many other cars in the segment now include adaptive and active safety features like adaptive/active cruise control, blindspot monitoring, lane keep assist, rear cross traffic alert, etc and the Pre-facelift Tiguan highline 2020 model(standard roof) only comes with Automatic emergency braking and rear view camera. Overall, if looking for a European make SUV, the Tiguan is a rather good choice and is a good family vehicle with lots of space. Only real downside is maybe the lack of active safety features when compared to competitors.

I been driving this ride for the past two months. 1.4L comfort line
The ride is good so far, suspension is better off that my old suv Vezel.
I would say this car is quite basic if you take the comfortline, i think one should go for the HL.

Compared to its peer, i feel that vw should give it more premium setup as the price is higher than its peers. That quite disappointing. SEAT and SKODA suv is very close to tiguan and offer better features at a more affordable price.

What I like
Suspension and the looks. I like the looks of Tiguan compare to SEAT ATECA and Skoda.

What I do not like
Price is on the high side yet features are basic.
Additional cost to take on higher spec. Compare to its peer for the same engine and cheaper price, Tiguan is not that value for money. It is quite disappointing.
Power is abit lacking for 1.4L. If that climbing up slope is abit draggy.
FC not that fantastic as well.

Tiguan highline is almost perfect to me,the only down side is the power is not strong enough,but it also provide you fuel economic.If you really think the power is not enough you can modify the software of car by a few hundreds dollars(100% No harm to the car).

Also after ten years when you kill your car,you can get 20000,much better than other competitors

This car kills the cx-5 totally, yes including the top spec 2.5. Interior is so spacious and airy with huge windows. Great sound proofing like typial VAG group cars. Looks is just nice and not overdone like current cx-5 and not as ah pek like harrier turbo. 3008 is lacking in interior quality and new engine. Best NVH and driving in class. Suspension works wonders like new X3. Am seriously impressed.

Slick shifting 6 speeder, not unreliable 7 speed dsg DQ200 found in passat and golf

Though it has best handling and quality in class, it cannot match the passat at both handling and acceleration due to high centre of gravity and hefty weight

Review
The Volkswagen Tiguan is presented only in diesel fuel trim in a couple of grades: Comfortline and Highline. The exterior styling is a bit different from the European counterpart, while the features on offer have also been reduced as compared to the Europe-spec model. Still, the Tiguan SUV comes with a lot of bells and whistles, whether it is comfort and convenience, or the safety compartment.

Test drove the 1.4L ComfortLine variant which was told by salesperson there is a HighLine one that comes with more features and worth getting in terms of top up price.

The first looks is stunning than the previous boxy looks. Full LED front and back lights in both Comfort & Highline ones but highline has got adaptive features.

The interior is impressive as it’S made with good and smooth materials. If you are 1.8m tall, not to worry as there is good headroom. In it comes with panaromic roof with ease to open if you need UV lights in as std.

The instrument on board is also easy to operate and view but if you wish to have the active instrument like in Audi, do opt for the highline variant.

The start of engine is pretty quiet and gear change is robust where hopefully that DSG issue is done for since 2013 as stated.

Drive off has good pickup and gear change is smooth and soundless. Pushing the car to speed up for overtaking is a breeze and quick witted.

Overall it’S definitely a great improvement to the engine, drive and std gadgets given. And for the small top up price from comfortline, it sure sounds much better to get the highline variant that comes with more attractive gadgets to have.

The Tiguan is a fantastic feature packed medium SUV that is easy and fun to drive. Lots of space for 5 passengers and it always feels energetic and zippy. Drove this car in Singapore, South Africa and Australia and it has never disappointed me. Price is rather high though compared to the Harrier which is arguably its main competitor in Singapore. But its German engineering and solid handling should win customers over.

Got my Tiguan 1.4 R-line with free upgrades to 19 inch wheels and 9.2 Discover Pro entertainment system. The amount of tech inside the car can easily rival the higher grade counterparts. Drive wise is smooth and the dyna audio is awsome

Just got my new Tiguan 2 1.4 R-Line with additional R-Line kit, Adaptive Cruise Control, Aerial View Surround Cam, Lane Assist, Park Assit 3.

I must say it is truly well equipped with Virtual Cockpit and Head-Up Display with Autonomous City Emergency braking.

Performance is slightly better than the Gen 1 outgoing 1.4TSI model

The Volkswagen Tiguan isn't the most fun SUV to drive but it excels at what it's meant to do. It's a practical, versatile and comes well-equipped, everything a family SUV is made for.

A sleeker and more good looking exterior certainly helps set it apart from a boring old family hauler.

This family car is more than capable of accommodating a family in comfort with a well-built cabin and a tonne of features like sat nav and Apple CarPlay.
