It's a revived brand, and it's currently offering something small and quite chic. If you're looking for something electric and want to stand out from the crowd this could well be it.

What I like
Is it a crossover or a hatch? Who knows - all you'll care about really is how sweet and different it all is.

There's good power, an accurate steering, and ride quality enough to please. Space at the rear is impressive for such a small car, even if boot space isn't all that spectacular.

What I do not like
Tall and wide centre console eats into the available space for those at the front.

Smart has returned on the international scene, as well as on our shores thanks to a new collaborative effort between Mercedes and a Chinese patron. Is its first offering, the #1, any good?

What I like
Decent power and a fast and zippy setup. The smart #1 is also undeniably stylish. There's a swooping roof, a grille-less front, and a generally interesting use of rounded lines and surfacing that makes the #1 interesting to look at from all angles. The fact that it toes the line between hatchback and crossover also helps here.

Legroom at the rear is decent for such a compact car.

What I do not like
Large and tall centre console eats into available space within the cabin. The material use here also needs an upgrade if smart imagines itself competing with other premium marques.
