Followed a friend to test drive this car over the last weekend. Overall, it was a decent transmission and smoother delivery compared to the X-Trail - it wasn't a WOW though as compared to its looks.
Interior fitting is decent, but I was expecting a higher standard as it was a UK designed and built. Some of the fitting on the dashboard looks cheap. It was not comfortable in the back row for people with longer legs as well.
The car maker will have to work harder on the interior to match the external sharp look.
What I like
The exterior car look
What I do not like
The cheap looking interior
The back row - not comfortable for people with longer legs

Having seen the original Qashqai before, I've always thought it's beyond my budget and not practical for Songapore. It's on,y recently when they came out with the new 1.2 model and it came within my budget that I took a second look at this car.
The design is fierce and I must say the handling is very easy for a lady driver. The interior is very stylish, finishing is fantastic and packed with most of the frills you see in continental cars, such as dual zone aircon, head unit with GPS and Bluetooth for hands free call answering, auto headlights and wipers (plus for me), beautiful daytime running lights, anti-movement alarm to prevent theft, etc. And the interior is spacious, sits 3 well built adults easily at the back seat.
The ride is very smooth as well and you don't get much of the outside noise in the car. The turbo engine kicked in very smoothly when I accelerate. Overall, this is. Nice car to get. The only reason why I didn't get it is because it is too wide and I'm afraid of manuvering this car in the car parks here.
What I like
Design
Good alarm system
Spacious
Quality finishing
Value for money
Made in UK
Head unit with GPS and bluetooth integration
What I do not like
The car is too big
Takes a while to get used to the speedometer as the outer ring shows miles/hr and the inner ring shows km/hr

How could a 1.2L car possibly have enough power for a SUV? I refuse to try it despite many invitation by the sales person. Finally, got down to trying it. Wow, win already. Really cool for a 1.2L. Don't expected a over-powering engine, but it certainly didn't feel weak for a 1.2L. But when the time comes to pay the Road tax, you'll be smiling from ear to ear.
Really value for money. The size you get, a Japanese car made in UK.
What I like
Value for money
Low road Tax
Spacious
Stylish
Reliable brand

What I do not like

Had to set up another profile for this update; Instead of getting a car that can be driven with confidence, it is not a paranoid to drive it!
During test drive and reading reviews, this car is highly rated. However on owning it for 2.5mths, many problems:
(1) Tan Chong's after sales service needs to be improved drastically, if you are getting any of the car, lower your expectations
(2) Rattling sounds and vibrations inside the car (seems like quality of workmanship is questionable, from the GPS wiring etc)
(3) One of the MAJOR concerns I had was that the car lost power and had to be in the workshop for 3.5days (though they did give me a courtesy car) : https://www.Youtube.Com/watch?V=wp0gNjm6fbI
(4) Just happened after I got the car from the workshop, during breaking, esp when parking and car needs to move forward and backward, rear carriage has a clanking sound!
So do consider twice if you are getting this car; Read more in the local forum and decide for yourself.
What I like
Starting to dislike this car.
What I do not like
Many problems.

So looking forward to the Nissan Qashqai 1.2 DIG-T when it was released last year and was extremely happy to see it in Singapore, indeed it is an excellent addition to the Nissan range. Have been driving it for less than 2 months so far - smooth ride, nice driving position and cruising is refined and quiet. Handling of the car is decent and it has everything you need for city driving.
Design wise it definitely beats almost all the other cars in the same bracket. Sleek, sexy, muscular and bold lines certainly are a major attraction for people who are still undecided. The interior is cosy yet classy and posh although the rear seat leg space could ideally be bigger. The lack of rear vent air con, lack of storage capacity in cabin and lack of USB ports are areas that can be further improved.
One major issue is the rattling sound that comes about when driving and that spoils the whole driving experience totally. Servicing does mask the problem for a while but it comes back again (æ²»æ ‡ä¸æ²»æœ¬) and I think they are clueless to what is causing it really. Even the folks in UK are agonising for the real root problem with seemingly no solution.
Overall, if you can be lucky enough not to get the car that rattles then it is worth the price and is an awesome car. If Nissan can add a few more tweaks and improvements to the existing issues then it will be an irresistible SUV for many years to come!
What I like
Good fuel economy
Low road tax
Sexy, sleek exterior
Classy interior with cosy feel
Good handling especially during cornering
High driving position that makes driving more fun
Nice acceleration and response from a decent engine
What I do not like
Brake dust accumulated too much on front wheels
Lack of rear air con vents
Lack of rear seat leg space
Rattling sound that comes about when driving which effectively spoils the whole driving experience ïŒ ïŒ ïŒ

Own this car for 1.5 mths and must say that it is really a good and comfortable car for point A to B driving. Does not feel that it lacks power BUT Nissan does need to settle some issues:
(1) 3 times I have experienced that the car refuses to move even when I floored the accerlerator (could be due to the turbo?)
(2) Vibrating noise from passenger's aircon vent and seems like a rampant problem for many buyers if you read the forum.
(3) Car is feature packed but HU can be much better
(4) Post sales service is rather disappointing
What I like
Good car for point A to point B.
Fuel economical.

Heard a lot about the car and test drive it a couple of months back. The 1.2L road tax and fuel efficiency of the car is the key to my shortlist.
Comparing between Honda HRV, this is more refine, handles a notch better, spacious and better sales service.
Comparing between X-Trail, this is quieter and steering has more feedback.
After the test drive, I am quite positive I will book it once COE goes south.
1. Steering has enough feedback not as in the X-Trail very light.
2. Acceleration is good and engine noise though quite audible during over taking but not as noisy as HRV.
3. Spacious interior and boot.
4. Handling quite well at corner but a bit rolling.
Overall I am happy with the ride and definitely a top choice for my replacement ride.
What I like
Space
Road Tax
Fuel efficiency
Good acceleration
For 1.2L Turbo the power is acceptable
Good insulation - not quite evident road noise
Exterior look
What I do not like
Lacking of roof rack
Rear aircon
Plastic interior

Driven the 1.2T version for 2 months so far. Fuel economy is good at around 14-15km/L with 70% Highway, 30% City driving.
Handsome and muscular exterior, plenty of soft touch material and leather for interior, long list of features such as in-car HUD touch screen entertainment system with integrated GPS and reverse camera, auto headlights and wiper, front and rear fog lamps, front LED DRL & LED tail lights behind, electronic retractable side mirrors, keyless and stop-start engine button, dual climate aircon control, steering wheel controls for bluetooth and media, cruise control, steering wheel settings for comfort or sports, USB ports & SD card slot, electronic brake & hill-start assist, ECO mode and engine stop-start system during idle, flexible and spacious boot storage and lots of decent sized storage compartments.
Power from the 1.2T is sufficient for everyday drive. Torque comes in early at low RPM which is helpful for Singapore's stop start city driving. Accelerator feel is slightly laggy but it's not something a throttle controller can't resolve. Handling wise, the Qashqai feels confident and composed, just like hatch back. Doesn't have typical feeling of roll over during cornering. Drive is comfortable and smooth. You can only hear a whistle of wind noise from 120km/h and above.
Designed and built in UK, the interior is a nice and welcoming place to be. The indicator stalk is on the left and the fuel cap is on the driver side, both like a continental car. The choice of materials for common touch points in the interior are all soft touch materials. Full leather seats including centre arm rest, gear knob, steering wheel and side door panels is a neat touch. Interior feels premium with addition of piano black accent trims across the dashboard.
Space is also generous. The boot comes with flexible floor boards for you to adjust according to the size of items you wish to stow, especially if you don't want them moving about while driving. Comes with 60/40 fold down seats to give a flat loading space.
What I like
Handsome & muscular exterior
Cosy and premium interior with nice materials
Boot space and flexibility
Fuel economy & cheap road tax
Early low end torque for city driving
Front LED DRL and LED tail lights
What I do not like
Rear doors do not open wide enough
Lack of rear air con vents
Slight rubber band feel of the new updated (7 speed) Xtronic CVT
Steering wheel may be slightly too thin (I'm just nitpicking)

Collected the Qashqai today. Must admit that the features are extraordinary, will take a while to get used to it. Car response good, driving feel is excellent. Not sure about the fuel economy, but the average extrapolation appears good at fc 6.7l/100km. Impressive crossover from Nissan.
What I like
Internal features
Car response
Driving Feel
Glass roof
What I do not like
Insulation seems poor during acceleration
High COE
Step up at second row centre passenger

Now in its second iteration, this Qashqai (name derives from nomadic Turkish people) comes with an unexpected standard from a Jap makes. Design in Europe and built in UK, the car offers the premium standard for its range.
It is not classified under premium SUV but however the quality and design features serves to provide a very good alternative to buyers who might be looking at more economical reasons when deciding to sign the dotted line.
What I like
First of all, the car greets you with a nice exterior design. The front lamps ends sharply to the central grille with the unmistakable Nissan logo. The boot space have now increased to 430 liters big! The interior features are keyless entry, e-park brake, big LCD screen, panoramic moonroof, cruise control, bluetooth, electric driver seat and so on .... the lists of such modern "needs" found in a Jap SUV of this range!
The seat are specially designed with affiliation to NASA, the comfort can be felt but of course within the short time span of a test drive session you might not fully appreciate it.
The ride and handling are surprisingly not so SUV-like, in fact you can feel its more like a raised hatchback rather than a tall SUV. Body roll when cornering is minimal for a car this design.
What I do not like
Obviously no car is perfect and let alone this model. The new Xtronic CVT gearbox is a vastly improvement from its predecessor but somehow the slip can still be felt when you rev up especially to overtake. Somehow the CVT drive might not compare as well to those dual-clutch gearboxes as found in premium brands!
But hey, if you are looking for comfort which this car is prioritized on then make no mistake to put your QASH on this QAI! Especially on rainy Singapore with the panoramic roof, you can jolly well "sing in the rain" ...

The Nissan Qashqai is one of the quietest and classiest cars of its kind, as well as one of the most practical and best to drive. Yes, its more expensive than some rivals, but it's worth the extra especially when you consider how well it should hold on to its value.
Cheapest are the 1.2-litre petrol models. Theyre fine for driving around town, although on faster roads you have to rev the engine hard to keep up with traffic.
The 1.5-litre diesels are our favorite: the engine is smooth and quiet, and gutsy enough from low revs, while low CO2 emissions help keep tax bills low.
Of the trim levels, we reckon Acenta makes the most sense; you get a decent amount of kit without spending the sort of money that would buy you a larger SUV. You should consider adding the Smart Vision Pack, which includes lane-departure and collision-warning systems, automatic switching between high and low headlight beams, and traffic sign recognition.
What I like
The Mk1 Nissan Qashqai popularised the compact crossover
