Jaguar Land Rover has recently revealed a new generation of compact, lightweight and low emission turbocharged engines that promise better performance with lower fuel consumption.
Available in both petrol and diesel variants, these new engines will form a new family called Ingenium.
Highlights ofthe Ingenium engines include patented technologies which help to reduce friction and deliver class-leading CO2 emissions. Ingenium engines also weigh less - up to 80kg lighter when compared to powerplants which are currently in the market.
The modular architecture also allows better flexibility and can be configured to fit into a range of new Jaguar and Land Rover vehicles.
The first Ingenium engine to go into series production, a 2.0-litre diesel unit codenamed AJ200D, will see friction being reduced by 17 percent compared to the current engine which makes it one of the most efficient and responsive 2.0-litre turbodiesels in its segment.
