With this new partnership, Audi and SSF hopes to discover new talents that will bring Singapore sailing to brand new heights.

In line with its "progression" philosophy, Audi Singapore has collaborated with Singapore Sailing Federation (SSF), sponsoring the newly created Singapore Youth Sailing Academy 2012. This academy, which will last between six to eight months, is a training and development programme modelled upon successful keelboat racing development programmes around the world. Not only does it target at providing the opportunity for young people to acquire and build sailing skillsets in a dynamic team environment, it prepares them for future endeavours in a professional sailing and the wider boating industry.

With the recent launch of the, Audi A6 Avant, this could not have been a better time for Audi Singapore to join forces with SSF – keeping in tune with its philosophy through lifestyle activities such as sailing. Keen on supporting youth sports in Singapore, Mr Reinhold Carl, Managing Director of Audi Singapore, said, “Audi has been actively involved in the sport of sailing around the world. We see the partnership with the SSF as a logical continuation of the story, following what we have done last year bringing to town the Audi ultra Supermaxi race yacht in conjunction with the launch of our new Audi A6.”

He also added that his decision to collaborate with SSF was because he liked the idea of creating opportunities for the young and remains true to the concept that everyone, regardless of age, race and gender, should be given a chance to explore their abilities and realise their full potential – in this case, sailing.

Held at the Marina Bay, sailing activities in this iconic location will see more advantages in bringing back the lifestyle sport. Not only will it allow Singaporeans, both sailors and non-sailors alike, to share the interest and sporting spectacle, access to sailing will now be as easy as going to the gym.

Selections for the Audi Singapore Youth Sailing Academy will commence in May and will only have its first intake in June.
