The newest model to join the Audi family - the A3 Sportback - has arrived and Audi Singapore has organised a lineup of activities to celebrate the A3 Sportback's launch in conjunction with the Audi Fashion Festival.

Tautly curved surfaces, the large, precisely defined wheel wells, the relatively narrow, sharply sloping C pillars and the understated roof spoiler underscore the sporty nature of the A3 Sportback.

Standing at 4,310mm by 1,780mm by 1,425mm (L x W x H), the wheelbase of the new A3 Sportback now measures 2,636mm, an increase of 58mm over its predecessor.

The interior of the new A3 Sportback is marked by an elegant, clean and light design. Lines and surfaces are sinuously taut. A long arch runs below the windshield in the style of larger Audi models. The instrument panel with its curved front is lean and low, and together with the centre console, which is angled slightly toward the driver, they appear to hover, hence evoking a sense of freedom behind the wheel.

The intuitively clean ergonomics are a classic Audi strength. The MMI operating system with the power-retractable monitor is available with the MMI radio and above. Its terminal is located on the console of the centre tunnel, which is flanked by high knee pads.

Thanks to the 58mm by which the wheelbase has grown, the A3 Sportback offers ample rear seat space and easy access for three adults.

The A3 Sportback also offers several millimetres more head and legroom than its predecessor
The new A3 Sportback will be offered with a choice of two TFSI engines.

The new 1.4 TFSI in the A3 Sportback produces 122bhp and 200Nm of torque, accelerating the A3 Sportback from 0 to 100 km/h in 9.3 seconds on its way to a top speed of 203km/h. Its average fuel consumption is 18.9km/L, which corresponds to CO2 emissions of 123g/km.

On the other hand, the bigger 1.8 TFSI, the most powerful petrol engine in the lineup, produces 180bhp and 250Nm of torque. It combines FSI direct with indirect injection and uses the Audi valvelift system, allowing the A3 Sportback to do the century sprint in 7.3 seconds, on to a top speed of 232km/h with an average fuel consumption of 17.8km/L and CO2 emissions of 130g/km.
