  • Koenigsegg returns to Singapore starting with the Agera S

It is official. Koenigsegg is back and Motorway is the official distributor in Singapore. Complementing this piece of good news was the launch of the Agera S.

The Koenigsegg brand of hypercars returns to Singapore and Motorway Group of Companies has been appointed as the official distributor.

To usher the appointment, Motorway unveiled the Koenigsegg Agera S, the first Koenigsegg to zoom onto our shores. Gracing the event was none other than the man himself, founder of Koenigsegg Automotive AB, Mr Christian von Koenigsegg.

Handcrafted by skilled artisans in Sweden, the Agera S was introduced to the world in 2012. Retailing at S$5.3 million, the hypercar is also the most expensive and the fastest car on our sunny island. This is the fourth Agera S in the world to be delivered - two others are in Hong Kong and one in the U.S.A - and the car took around 4,000 hours to produce.

The Agera S has all the features and functions of the Agera R except for flexfuel capability. As with the Agera R, the Agera S has a body made from pre-impregnated carbon fibre/Kevlar with lightweight reinforcements. The car's hardtop roof can be easily stowed under the front hood lid.

Also made out of carbon fibre with an aluminium honeycomb is the chassis that comes with integrated fuel tanks for optimal weight distribution and safety. The rear wing is electronically adjustable with an automatic setting or manual control in order to have as little compromise as possible between low drag and down force.

Powering the hypercar is an in-house developed 5.0-litre twin-turbo V8 engine. Despite not running on high octane biofuel, it is able to produce a whopping 1,040 horses and 1,100Nm of torque, propelling the Agera S to the century mark in a stunning 2.9 seconds, with a top speed of over 400km/h.

"Being appointed by Koenigsegg to represent them in Singapore is a perfect gift for Motorway as we celebrate our 21st year of establishment this month. I'm also delighted to say that we have secured a buyer for the first Koenigsegg in Singapore and we are eyeing to sell more Koenigseggs in the near future," said Mr Michael Lim, Chief Executive Officer of Motorway.

In line with this, Motorway has invested in equipments and tools as well as training a team of dedicated mechanics for after sales and maintenance services of Koeniggsegg hypercars.

Christian von Koeniggsegg said, "It is with great pleasure that we launch the first Koenigsegg in Singapore today. Today's launch means a lot to us as Koenigsegg has evolved from being a small and unknown car developer, to becoming a household name, revered for excellence and performance - competing head to head with the strongest brands in the industry."
