New Zealander Earl Bamber scored a perfect race at the Porsche SC Global Carrera Cup 2013 at the Marina Bay Street Circuit, taking top honours.

Young sports car racing driver Earl Bamber ran a faultless race yesterday at the Porsche SC Global Carrera Cup Asia - Singapore 2013. The New Zealander took top spot at the qualifying session on Saturday, 21 September, and went on to complete the race in the number one position despite the short but dramatic race.

Coming in second is Craig Baird of SC Global Racing, with Martin Ragginger of Team Eagle completing the podium in third.

The 12-lap race was contended by a 25 strong field, which saw a number of incidents. First, Team Basetex's Zhang Da was caught in an accident, which saw multiple cars spin on the track.

Then, Nexus Racing's Alif Hamdan hit the barriers on Lap 9, calling out the Safety Car for two laps before his car could be extricated out from the track.

Sharing his joy at the end of the race, Bamber said, "It's an incredible feeling, especially for the team. We had a good tussle at the start and then a great fight before the long Safety Car period. I knew the restart would be important and I managed to jump him (Craig Baird) and maintain the gap."

Results of the Porsche Carrera Cup Asia - Round 10

    1. Earl Bamber - Nexus Racing #7 (31:54.965)
    2. Craig Baird - SC Global Racing #3 (+1.159)
    3. Martin Ragginger - Team Eagle #86 (+4.120)

    1. Earl Bamber - Nexus Racing - 178 points
    2. Martin Ragginger - Team Eagle - 162 points
    3. Rodolfo Avila - Team Jebsen - 141 points

The Porsche Carrera Cup Asia will be back in action next month at the Sports Car Champions Festival in Shanghai, from 25 to 27 October. For more information on the race series, visit their homepage.
