Following news of buyers being cheated of their deposits by car dealership Volks Auto, more people are coming forward to claim of similar experiences.
There are now more than 80 participants, double the initial number, in the WhatsApp chat group.
The parallel importer has been shuttered since Saturday, with the boss nowhere to be found.
The Straits Times reported that deposits of $20,000 to $30,000 on average have been paid by customers, but they have yet to get their vehicles. Business owner Tan Poh Yong, 48, paid $44,000 for a Porsche in July.
As of 8:00pm yesterday, 57 buyers in the chat group had given their details, with the total sum amounting to more than $1.5 million. 51 of them had also made police reports.
