The Land Transport Authority (LTA) has appointed home-grown Feng Ming Construction to complete a project to widen the stretch of Braddell Road between Lorong 1 Toa Payoh and the Braddell Flyover for a contract sum of $29.9 million, The Straits Times reported.
The project came to a halt late last year when the first contractor, Hexagroup, ran into financial difficulties. Hexagroup, also a local company, clinched the deal in 2012 for $29 million.
The widening project includes the construction of a single-lane flyover that allows right-turning traffic from Lorong 6 Toa Payoh to connect directly with the Braddell Underpass (towards Paya Lebar).
Originally to be completed by end of this year, the project is now scheduled to be finished by end-2016.
LTA has meanwhile terminated the contract with Hexagroup. In the interim, it had also appointed a caretaker contractor to manage the site. Feng Ming Construction will resume the widening project immediately.
