  • Toyota launches new Alphard and Vellfire in Singapore

Authorised distributor of Toyota in Singapore, Borneo Motors, has launched its new large Multi-Purpose Vehicles (MPV), the Alphard and the Vellfire.

Borneo Motors, the official distributor of Toyota in Singapore, has introduced the third generation Toyota Alphard and the second generation Toyota Vellfire. It is also the first time the Vellfire is being offered by the authorised distributor here. The MPVs are available in three variants: Alphard Standard, Alphard Elegance and Vellfire Elegance.

The new designs have been raised to a level that further accentuates their individualities. Sculptured contours, refined details and the elongated side silhouette are a vision to behold.

While the Vellfire is slightly longer by 15mm, the overall heights of both MPVs have been reduced by 10mm, the lowered rocker bottom edge and wheelbase extended by 50mm, allowing for a low centre of gravity while still maintaining cabin height and rear seat comfort.

Moving inside, the elaborate workmanship stresses the quality of the materials and combines with sculpted metal surface and wood-grain ornamentation for a unique impact. The cars' second row comes equipped with Captain and Ottoman seats for first-class luxury, swaddling the passengers with high-end, trimmed leather for exceptional comfort. These seats are also power-operated for ease of use in the Elegance grades.

Both MPVs feature the 7.0-inch, touchscreen InTouch Telematics Infotainment System to enable drivers to stay connected on the roads and complements the luxurious quality of the vehicles. The Alphard and Vellfire also come equipped with a 16-colour LED ceiling colour illumination system that allows passengers to change the interior ambience during the journey.

Redesigned to optimise interior space, an increase in overall dimensions ensures spaciousness and easy accessibility. The slide range of the manual-operated seats now boosts an extended range of 828mm, which allows for more flexibility and convenience.

At the same time, the front and rear seats' slide range have been extended to 496mm, an increase of 30mm and 48mm respectively when compared to previous generations. The increased wheelbase of both cars also allows for a wider opening of the sliding doors by 70mm as well as more cabin space.

The Alphard and Vellfire are equipped with the new 178bhp 2.5-litre Dual VVT-i engine that can also be found in the Camry 2.5. Continuously optimising the timing of the intake and exhaust valve operation according to driving conditions, the engine provides a higher level of performance in every area and enhances fuel economy and lowers emissions.

Newly developed rear suspension also greatly enhances the cabin's quietness and rear seat ride comfort by achieving a constant articulation index that is expected of a luxury passenger vehicle.

Price as of press time (inclusive of COE)

    Toyota Alphard Standard - $221,888
    Toyota Alphard Elegance - $229,888
    Toyota Vellfire Elegance - $229,888
