At the Frankfurt Motor Show, Audi launched the new top models from the A4 range - the S4 and S4 Avant - featuring newly developed turbocharged engines, a new eight-speed tiptronic automatic transmission, and a host of latest technologies.

At the heart of the new S models is a newly developed V6 engine with petrol direct injection and turbocharging. The 3.0-litre TFSI has an output of 354bhp and 500Nm of torque, outstripping its predecessor in terms of power and torque, whilst simultaneously lowering fuel consumption and weight.

As with all Audi models, power is delivered through the quattro permanent all-wheel drive system. The S4 and S4 Avant also feature newly developed suspension for better corner handling, and have variable speed-dependent dynamic steering available as an option.

In terms of styling, the new S models get LED lighting as standard, and quad exhausts rest in a new rear bumper with a subtle diffuser. The overall styling maintains an understated look. On the inside, there are echoes of the A4, but with sports seats and a mix of Nappa leather and Alcantara upholstery for a more sporty edge.

The new S4 and S4 Avant feature an extensive range of standard equipment, with a range of driver assistance systems including predictive efficiency assistant, active lane assist, adaptive cruise control, traffic jam assist, Audi's pre sense systems and a whole lot more.

The two new S models will be available in 2016.
