Audi has launched the next generation R8 LMS for its Asian customer teams, and will be fielded at the inaugural FIA GT World Cup at the Macau Grand Prix from November 19th to 22nd.
Audi Hong Kong unveiled the Macau entry today as it announced partnerships with Phoenix Racing and AAPE BY A BATHING APE. Audi Hong Kong driver Marchy Lee, who finished third in the Audi R8 LMS Cup 2015, will race the new R8 LMS car at its Macau debut.
Developed specifically for GT racing, the next generation of the Audi R8 LMS features improved aerodynamics, Audi's lightweight technology expertise, and delivers up to 585bhp.
"We are delighted to launch the new Audi R8 LMS car for our customer teams in Asia, and look forward to seeing the car perform on the challenging Guia street circuit for the first time at the Macau Grand Prix," said Rene Koneberg, Director of Audi Sport customer racing Asia. "It is a pleasure to again work with Phoenix Racing, with whom we partnered on our way to a 12th place finish at the Nurburgring 24 Hours earlier this year, and to team up with hip hop diffusion fashion brand AAPE BY A BATHING APE to design a livery which is as unique and exciting as the new R8 LMS itself."
