In the second COE bidding exercise in April, premiums increased slightly across all car categories. 
Premiums for Cat B, larger cars with more than 130bhp or engine displacement larger than 1,600cc, increased by $2,602 (5.5 percent) and ended at $49,602. 

In Cat E, the open category, prices went up $1,991 (4.2 percent), with premiums closing at $49,501.

Looking at the number of bids across all categories, demand continues to outstrip supply at a fairly constant rate, with relatively little change in the number of bids relative to the available quota. As reported earlier, this could be a continuing trend of private hire companies such as Uber bidding for new car COEs. 

However, with the COE supply set to increase by 15 percent for the coming three-month period, we can expect premiums to fluctuate, and perhaps fall in the coming bidding exercises, depending on car buyers' reactions to the increase in COE supply.
