  • The launch of the made-for-Singapore turbocharged Toyota Harrier

Toyota authorised distributor Borneo Motors launched the first made-for-Singapore turbocharged Toyota Harrier with a Singapore-themed extravaganza.

Toyota Authorised Dealer (AD) Borneo Motors (BMS) officially marked the unprecedented arrival of the new Toyota Harrier with an aptly named 'Made-For-Singapore' extravaganza held at the Ritz Carlton Singapore on 20th July 2017.

Inchcape Asia CEO, George Ashford, commenced the event with a speech and kicked things into motion by placing a plague into a standing podium, unveiling the Harrier logo. Acclaimed local artist Andy Yang then made an on-screen appearance and took everyone behind the scenes to view the making of the turbocharged eagle that was inspired by the Made-for-Singapore Harrier.

As the video ended, the car rolled out to the delight of everyone present. Toyota's Chief Engineer of the Harrier, Yoshikazu Saeki-san, took centre stage with a presentation of the car's development story. Befitting the event's 'Made-For-Singapore' theme, MasterChef Asia Winner Woo Wai Leong served a specially created Harrier-inspired dish to the 400-strong guests.

The launch and the introduction of the new 2017 Made-For-Singapore Turbocharged Harrier signified yet another historic moment for BMS who has been Singapore's authorised distributor of Toyota vehicles for over 50 years. It was a testament to the company's strong partnership with Toyota Motor Corporation, as well as its status as the preferred Toyota dealer in the Singapore market.

The arrival of the Toyota Harrier marks two key firsts for BMS - it is the first turbocharged Toyota model, as well as the first time the Harrier is being offered by the AD.

For the latest variant, Toyota engineers set out to deepen the Harrier's progressive image by pursuing greater sportiness in its design. It features a turbocharged 2.0-litre engine producing 227bhp and 350Nm of torque, paired to a six-speed automatic Electronically Controlled Transmission. The Harrier also features a Sports Mode that offers an even sportier drive and better acceleration response

The interior quality and aesthetics of the Harrier have also been enhanced, with features such as a Nanoe air-conditioner, a multi-information display with an optitron meter (exclusive to the turbocharged Harrier), the Advanced Toyota Telematics System, and ergonomic powered seats available in either Nappa leather or Ultrasuede.

Technologically, the innovations from Toyota such as Toyota Safety Sense P and Electric Parking Brake are incorporated into the new Harrier, making it a contemporary vehicle that moves in perfect sync with changing times.

The new Toyota Harrier is now available for order in three trim levels - Elegance, Premium and Luxury.

Prices as of press time (inclusive of COE)

    Toyota Harrier 2.0 Elegance (A) - $146,988
    Toyota Harrier 2.0 Premium (A) - $152,988
    Toyota Harrier 2.0 Luxury (A) - $159,988
