02 Dec 2017|1,377 views
Jaguar's Special Vehicle Operations (SVO)-developed XE SV Project 8 is now the world's fastest four-door car, following a production-intent prototype's record lap of the Nurburgring Nordschleife. The incredible time of 7:21.23, by racing driver Vincent Radermecker, is nearly 11 seconds quicker than the previous fastest sedan around the legendary 20.8km German circuit and puts the Project 8 ahead of some of the world's fastest two-door coupes and supercars.
The Project 8 is available to order as a four-seat sedan, or with an optional weight-saving two-seat Track Pack, which includes front Carbon Fibre Racing Seats with Four-Point Harnesses fixed to a Harness Retention Hoop in place of the rear seat. Both versions feature adjustable suspension, aerodynamics and electronic systems, which can be configured in Track Mode.
The 7:21.23 lap time was achieved with a prototype Project 8 prepared by SVO's engineers in Track Mode and on production 265/35 R20 and 305/30 R20 Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tyres. That time places the Jaguar XE SV Project 8 ahead of some of the world's fastest two-door coupes and mid-engined supercars around the circuit known as 'The Green Hell'.
