Luxury Japanese marque, Lexus, has finally launched the new ES sedan, just two months after it showcased the car at the Beijing Motor Show.
As a result of the new platform, the Lexus ES is longer, lower and wider than before, with wheels that have been pushed closer to the corners thanks to a longer wheelbase and wider front and rear tracks.
As you can imagine, this clearly gives the luxury sedan a stance and proportion that will make even the average casual driver take a second glance. And if that doesn't attract the attention of other drivers on the road, its expressive styling, sleeker roofline and gaping grille most certainly will.
Like the Lexus LS flagship sedan, it's hard to ignore the ES sedan. Sharp, squinted headlamps and modern styling highlights at the rear all do their part to convey a bold and sporty yet beautiful and sophisticated design.
In that aspect, it seems like there is a very palpable sense that Lexus has outdone itself with the ES to ensure that the daring design elements that have been added challenge the traditional expectations of buyers while ensuring the brand's culture and tradition have been retained at every possible level.
A similar story continues on the inside. On both Executive and Luxury trim in Singapore, the dash is dominated by a high-definition 12.3-inch infotainment system, accompanied by what seems to be a set of strategically selected buttons and controls for commonly-used features such as radio and air-conditioning system.
Personalisation settings and other in-depth adjustments are still readily and easily available via the updated Remote Touch Interface trackpad.
Elsewhere, from what we have been seeing and feeling so far, the Lexus ES exudes high levels of quality in its cabin, with ample room for three Singaporeans at the rear. Boot space is now at 473 litres for both the ES250 and the ES300h.
Both cars will arrive in Singapore in the fourth quarter of this year.
