Singapore-based car and motorcycle sharing company, Tribecar, announced the availability of its hourly car rental to a new segment of drivers - those under the age of 23 or with less than two years of driving experience.

Tribecar will kick-off the initiative with an introductory fleet of cars across the country, while increasing availability in the coming weeks - in time to cater to surging demand around the Lunar New Year.

An introductory fleet of cars for new drivers includes popular models such as the Toyota Corolla Altis and Mitsubishi Lancer. Users are considered new drivers if they are below the age of 23, and/or with less than two years of driving experience as indicated in their Singapore driving licence.

Tribecar's new service allows new drivers in Singapore to rent a vehicle upon obtaining their driving license. They will also enjoy the benefits of being protected by enhanced insurance coverage.

New drivers' rental rates will be at a premium to experienced drivers to reflect the increased insurance protection required. Based on hours and the period selected for rental, drivers may estimate their total cost through the rate calculator online.

New driver-enabled cars will be available near MRT stations such as Chai Chee, Choa Chu Kang, Sengkang, Jurong East, and Punggol.
