  • Thinkware poised to bring NB-IoT dash cam in Singapore

Thinkware Singapore will launch its NB-IoT service in mid-2019, a wireless technology much like the LTE network on our phones, for the X700 dash cam.

Thinkware, one of the world's leading dash camera brands, released the latest addition to their lineup, the X700 dash cam. Aside from its mouth-watering dash cam specifications consisting of crystal-clear full-HD 1080P on both channels and a reliable parking mode, it is also the first and only dash cam in the market that is Narrow Band Internet of Things (NB-IoT) ready.

NB-IoT technology allows the Thinkware X700 to send the vehicle's owner a notification when an impact is detected
NB-IoT is a wireless technology much like the LTE network on our phones that we are all so familiar with. However, NB-IoT is able to effectively penetrate thick walls and underground structures, allowing it to work even in a basement carpark. This means that NB-IoT is extremely suitable for dash cam connectivity, furthermore it uses lesser data, resulting in much savings.

Now with this technology, the X700 dash cam as well as upcoming, newer Thinkware dash cam series will be able to send the vehicle's owner a notification when an impact is detected while the car is parked.

Additionally, the car can also be easily located through the connection. You can also check the voltage of your car's battery and turn off the dash cam if required, wherever you are. To enjoy these features, an NB-IoT dongle is required.

Currently the NB-IoT technology is only available in Korea, and Thinkware Singapore has announced plans to launch the service here, sometime around mid-2019. "We will be the second country after Korea to be launching the NB-IoT service," said Kenneth Low, Managing Director, Thinkware Singapore.

Full information on the NB-IoT service will be revealed at the upcoming ITSHOW 2019, Thinkware will also be accepting pre-order for the NB-IoT dongle during the ITSHOW period from 7 to 10 March 2019, Booth 6625.
