Iconic V12 engine and groundbreaking hybrid technology from Lamborghini combine in the Sian, providing a glimpse of the future.

Lamborghini has unveiled its newest hybrid super sports car - the Sian.

The Sian is the fastest Lamborghini yet and is said to set the design of a new era for the firm
Promising to deliver new technologies and unsurpassed performance in the hybrid sphere, the fastest Lamborghini of all time is realised in a new futuristic design, drawing on the brand's style DNA, while clearly setting a design for a new era.

Taking the most iconic V12 Lamborghini engine, the Sian is engineered around unique hybrid technologies, delivering the extraordinary emotion and exceptional dynamic performance of a naturally aspirated Lamborghini, while meeting a future demanding electrification.

A 48V motor, delivering 34bhp, has been incorporated into the gearbox to provide immediate response and improved performance. This is also the first of any low-voltage hybrid that a direct connection has been made between electric motor and wheels. The e-motor will also support low-speed manoeuvres such as reversing and parking with electric power.

With 774bhp from a V12 engine, the Sian has the largest power output of any Lamborghini powerplant
The energy accumulation technology utilised in the Sian is a world first. Rather than using a lithium-ion battery the Sian innovates supercapacitor application, a technology originally pioneered in the Lamborghini Aventador but dramatically developed to store 10 times the power.

Locating the battery in the bulkhead between cockpit and engine ensures perfect weight distribution, while the electric system with the supercapacitor and electric motor weighs only 34kg, thus delivering a remarkable power-to-weight ratio of 1.0bhp/kg.

This advanced technology is combined with the V12 engine, which now incorporates titanium intake valves and is uprated to 774bhp at 8,500rpm, the highest output ever from a Lamborghini powerplant. Combined with the additional 34bhp from the hybrid system, the Sian delivers a total of 807bhp, and still produces the distinctly emotive resonance demanded of a Lamborghini engine. Through the use of lightweight materials, the Sian's power-to-weight ratio is also better than that of the Aventador SVJ.

The Sian takes inspiration from the Countach, and continues to sport its classic Gandini line
The combined drivetrain delivers instant acceleration in low gears, making the Sian the fastest-accelerating Lamborghini ever, with a zero to 100km/h sprint time of less than 2.8 seconds.

The Lamborghini Sian's design meanwhile demonstrates a clear intent - to combine visionary and futuristic design with outstanding aerodynamic solutions. It is a new super sports car for a new era, while still retaining the heart and soul of a Lamborghini.

Taking futuristic inspiration from the Countach, the Gandini line is evident in its profile, while the silhouette introduces new features such as the characteristic aero wings, giving the Sian an unmistakable profile. The iconic Lamborghini 'Y' shape can be seen in the NACA air inlets on the doors, while glass elements are included in the engine cover, and the diagonal line features in the front hood, as in the Countach.

The extreme and strong rear of the car incorporates the hexagonal design so linked with Lamborghini, including six hexagonal taillights inspired by the Countach. The rear wing is integrated within the profile, and extends out only during the driving to enhance the performance.

The Lamborghini Sian will be unveiled to the world's media and public at the Frankfurt Motor Show 2019.
