The Rolls-Royce Phantom Gallery is the ultimate central stage to exhibit unique works of art in the dashboard of the Rolls-Royce Phantom.

For over 100 years, Rolls-Royce has been pushing the boundaries, creating luxurious motor cars with high levels of bespoke customisation. We were invited to Raffles Hotel to learn more about its latest innovation, an artwork within the new Rolls-Royce Phantom - 'The Gallery'.

Iridescent Opulence is an intepretation of 'The Gallery' by Nature Squared, crafted with over 3,000 feathers
The Rolls-Royce Bespoke Collective, a group of designers, artisans, craftspeople and engineers residing at Rolls-Royce's Goodwood-based Global Centre of Luxury Manufacturing Excellence, are tasked with bringing patrons' creative ideas to life.

Demand on their services has been continually rising and today, Rolls-Royce Bespoke requests have reached unprecedented new levels. The quest to push creative boundaries and advance new technologies ensures the marque continuously elevates these clients' expectations.

Rich stories are told across large swathes of sumptuous exterior and interior surfaces, whilst at the heart of Phantom, the innovative Gallery, a central stage presented behind glass, offers patrons the opportunity to exhibit unique and personal works of art and design in their car.

"'The Gallery' is an innovation that furthers Rolls-Royce's unparalleled bespoke capabilities. Patrons are now invited to commission artworks for their own personal Gallery within the Phantom, in essence, bringing art, within art," said Torsten Müller Ötvös, Chief Executive, Rolls-Royce Motor Cars.

'The Gallery' is found on the dashboard of the Rolls-Royce Phantom, featuring an uninterrupted piece of glass
'The Gallery' is a central stage to exhibit unique works of art, and is positioned in the dashboard of the Rolls-Royce Phantom. An application of glass runs uninterrupted across the fascia, and behind this glass is the space in which Rolls-Royce's patrons can commission and curate art. This enables an unprecedented opportunity for the protection and presentation of works of art.

From a simple application of wood or metal, to a more complex use of materials not normally viable in an automotive context and enhanced by incorporating relief, 'The Gallery' extends the patron's experience of curation with the marque to a new realm.

In this spirit, Rolls-Royce has invited artists and master artisans from around the world to interpret 'The Gallery'. One such interpretation is 'Iridescent Opulence' by Nature Squared, where over 3,000 tail feathers were selected for their iridescence, individually shaped to accentuate the sheen and rich hue of the natural feathers, and hand-sewn onto an open pore fabric in a design that originates from the heart of 'The Gallery' - the clock. Additive manufacturing was also used to emulate the musculature of a natural wing to bring life to the creation, creating an atmospheric artwork that brings both movement and fragility to this Gallery.
