Audi Singapore presents the new RS4 Avant, the first high performance Audi model to debut on Audi Live virtual launch.

Audi Singapore has launched the latest updated version of the RS4 Avant on the second episode of Audi Live. The new RS4 Avant sports a newly designed front section while the sporty interior with the new MMI touch operating system underline its athletic capabilities, which has a legendary line of ancestors.

The front section of the new RS4 Avant has been completely redesigned, differing considerably from the A4 Avant. The Singleframe grille is wider and flatter, and is designed without a frame to give it a clean look.

The three-dimensional honeycomb structure in gloss black is typical for the RS model series
The new egg crate grille with the RS4 emblem is inserted directly into the bumper with the large lateral air inlets and vertical flaps. The wheel arches with the quattro blisters are each 30mm wider at the front and back as compared to the Audi A4 Avant.

The RS-specific roof edge spoiler, diffuser insert and the tailpipes of the RS exhaust system give the vehicle a distinct finish. On request, the car can be specified with the RS sport exhaust system, which features black tailpipe trims and creates a particularly sporty sound experience controlled via the Audi drive select dynamic handling system.

The high-torque 2.9-litre TFSI twin-turbo V6 produces 444bhp and 600Nm of torque. This allows the RS4 Avant to accelerate from zero to 100km/h in just 4.1 seconds. The engine weighs just 182kg, which is 31kg less than the V8 engine in the preceding model from 2012. This benefits the gross weight and the axle load distribution - two prerequisites for the impressive performance. The RS dynamic package increases the electronically governed top speed from 250km/h to 280km/h.

Audi Sport GmbH builds the new engine based on the legendary 2.7-litre V6 of the first RS4 Avant from 1999, having a power output of 374bhp back then
The two turbochargers are each assigned to a cylinder bank and build up a boost pressure of up to 1.5bar. The turbochargers are installed within the 90-degree interior 'V' of the cylinder banks, enabling compact construction and short gas flow paths with minimal flow losses, increasing responsiveness.

The power of the engine flows to the quattro permanent all-wheel drive system via the sporty eight-speed tiptronic transmission. The system delivers more power to the rear axle by default. Most of the power is automatically and rapidly redirected if undesired slip occurs.

The high locking values enable a clearly defined torque distribution and highly precise interaction with the control systems of the Electronic Stabilisation Control and wheel-selective torque control. The quattro sport differential with RS-specific tuning standard for Singapore ensures an even more dynamic response when accelerating in corners. It distributes the torque between the rear wheels actively and in a targeted manner, thereby improving traction, stability and dynamics, eliminating both understeer and oversteer.

The new MMI touch display takes over the functions of the previous rotary pushbutton on the centre console
The Audi RS4 Avant features a black interior. 30 different coloured LED light guides in combination with the ambient lighting package comes standard for Singapore. The driver and front passenger are welcomed by the illuminated door sill trims that bear the RS4 logo. The RS sport seats with honeycomb pattern and the shift gate also bear the RS emblem.

The 10.1-inch MMI touch display is the control centre of the new operating system. The driver can use the RS monitor to call up an overview of drive system component temperatures, maximum g-forces and information regarding tire pressures and temperatures.

In the Audi virtual cockpit, special RS displays provide information on tire pressure, torque, power output, engine oil temperature, lap timings, acceleration measurements and g-forces. The head-up display also provides some RS-specific information such as the shift light display. The driver can actuate the two RS1 and RS2 modes in Audi drive select directly via a new 'RS MODE' button on the flat-bottomed RS multifunction sport leather steering wheel and automatically opens the RS-specific displays in the Audi virtual cockpit. Customers of the RS4 Avant can select from eight paint colours, including the new Turbo blue and the new metallic colour Tango red.

The Audi RS4 Avant is now available for viewing at Audi Centre Singapore.
